Tips and tricks for PC

I have been playing Overwatch on Xbox for several years now. Although Im not the best player I have become quite good at the game. Recently I transfered to PC and am finding the Keyboard and Mouse combo smoother, yet a little difficult at the same time. Any PC players can give me some tips and tricks on some settings. I’ve watched some YouTube videos and it’s helped. I just wanted input from other players as well. Thank you so much.

Use a fairly low sensitivity it will probably feel weird at the start. Most new players use a way to heigh sensitivity and can’t aim until they lower it

Find a good mouse sens you feel comfortable with.
And don’t be afraid to make some custom adjustments to your controls. You can bind some abilities to mouse wheel and lateral buttons, it makes it easier than pressing shift and E for those.
WASD can maybe take like 1 or 2 weeks to get used to if you play some everyday.

You can’t give this advice if you don’t know how big their mouse space is… if they have a small mouse space, then they should not be putting their sensitivity low lol.

I used this guide to help me with my sensitivity, but it’s a little complicated.

WDYM you just move your arm faster. We know the human body can at least survive 200 G’s that is an acceleration of about 2000 m/s^2. Though most modern mice are only capable of an acceleration of about 300 m/s^2 but even that is more than enough to play with a relatively low sensitivity.

What? if you have a small mouse area and set your sensitivity very low… you’ll have to keep lifting your mouse up which then messes you up…

This is super true. Before I got my desk mouse pad I tried switching to low sens and couldn’t at all. I was waaaaay more accurate on high sens than low sens on a small area.

Download aimlabs and try to find a sensitivity that will at the very least let you turn 180 without picking up your mouse. You can go up in sensitivity after to what feels comfortable. Use aimlabs to practice your aim(it’s free).

Get the free game AimLab on steam (the game has settings that let you match it to your sensitivity in OW).

Then go into OW, mess around with sensitivity until you find one you’re comfortable with (note: this could take some time, aka a few weeks to months considering how serious you want to be with it). Once you start getting closer to a sensitivity you like, start adjusting by smaller and smaller increments and give it a few days before you change again. That’ll give your muscle memory time to adjust before you try a new sensitivity.

Lastly, look up a few guides on youtube or online on how to reduce input lag from your mouse.

I wish they would bring mnk support to console and give us games with pc players.

Tip: If you played comp on console, don’t tell anyone in PC what your rank was. Just act like you never really played comp or something.

Will save you a lot of flak.

I too transferred to PC after playing ps4 for like 3 years, I’d say the most important things to learn are:

  1. Learn what dpi and edpi is, most pro players play around 2-4k edpi. Which to new pc players standards is arm aiming. Trust me, get into arm aiming. After like a week of it you don’t even think about moving your arm anymore, and you won’t ever want to play a higher sens due to the sheer inconsistency and lack of precision that comes with it.

  2. Play the game in fullscreen mode so you get less input lag, and look into a 144hz monitor. It’s worth the upgrade 100%. Also, the more frames you have, the less your input lag is.

  3. I’d recommend trying out Aimlabs on Steam a few times a week just for like 10 minutes or so at the least. It’ll get you more comfortable with moving the mouse around wayyy faster.

  4. You don’t need a good keyboard, but a good mouse can make a huge difference. Wired mice, regardless of the quality of the cord, cause friction against the mousepad and aren’t as easy to move as wireless mice. I’d really recommend a wireless mouse, I personally use the logitech g pro wireless. Plus, get a big mousepad, it’ll make your life 10000% easier.

  5. Try to sit in the same position everyday when you play. Controller really has an advantage here because you can sit in alot of different positions while still being able to play really well… keyboard+mouse on the other hand isn’t like that at all. Sitting in the same position everytime you play will help build muscle memory faster.

  6. Don’t get discouraged. Console limits your sensitivity to an extent, while PC doesn’t. You’re going to notice people 180 on you constantly, and react to you way faster due to their ability to turn around instantly. Alot of console players get hung up on doing poorly in the beginning, but don’t let that stop you! You’ll get it :+1:

It depends on what type of aimer you are. Some use their arms, some use their wrists to aim (like me) and some use a combo of either with fingers for long range shots, seen a lot do this in apex.

since i do my wrist and fingers, my dpi is 2800 mouse, and in game sens is 7

Thank you all for your responses. I’ve read e every single one and will apply tips. As well as download Aimlab. Thanks again!
