Tip On Asking A Person To Switch Their Hero
I have seen this alot and people get upset when they demand others to switch and they get ignored or immediate no. Your goal is to get them to do what you want and switch right? Then don’t be rude, don’t be bossy, and actually ASK like you were raised with manners. I don’t care if you are 12 or 30, you had someone raise you with some level of decency to say please and “ask” not demand. Unless, no one raised you right… which is quite possible.
Observation- the person “asking” is not asking. They are demanding.
Words used:
“X switch now”
“We really don’t need an X”
“Get of of X now and play X”
“X, this is what you need to play”
Do you see a trend?
None of these are requests. They are demands and will not be met, you will be ignored 99.9% of the time or an argument will start.
So let’s break it down to why you feel you need to start “asking” and not demanding for something that YOU want of a complete stranger.
- You are not their boss at all, you are no one to demand something of a complete stranger. You can ASK like a decent human being…
“Hey… I think we need a tank with a shield… does anyone mind playing this so we can win? If not, ok but would really help.” And your role should also be support, if YOU are the one asking. If a Junkrat or Hanzo is complaining about people switching they also need to be involved in playing support.
You will get met with toxic if you give toxic. And most likely if you do it the entire game, you will also get reported.
There was a kid in a game that all he did was whine for 20 minutes. tempted to leave voice chat because no one should be saddled with someone else’s bratty kid throwing a tantrum because he can’t have a cookie and he wants it now now now. Like I said, manners need to happen regardless of your age.

Its almost as if all this information is incredibly obvious yet not for a majority of idiots that play this game.

step one: if you are one of the three DPS, you’re not allowed to ask for a tank or a healer

Usualy its " Hey offmeta character player, its your fault we lost ( several lines of abuse insue) Switch off" * switches to character you are not good with but they demand… still lose* " You THREW intentionaly, EVERYONE REPORT THEM"…
This is my life now… this game has no balance, and the marketing to get CSGO and COD players has turned it into a cesspool.

i dont think there is a right way. if you wanted to get some changes going on maybe ask generally for those who arent feeling useful to swap to something they feel comfortable with. say it in a calm and non distinct way, dont single folks out. if people ask me to change i almost never change, am i bad?

the only way to ask for a switch it’s to explain why you want that, and a meta issue is not a good argument.

Not too long ago someone told me “We really don’t need a Sym”.
Mind you I had just played D.Va on attack, we moved the payload to the very end and this was on Blizzard world, a very strong map for Symmetra.
I told him hello since I wasn’t speaking on chat and then proceeded with my pick. The enemy team never captured the first point.
I am not a one trick and will switch, but telling people at the very beginning of the game to switch is just rude. If we are doing particularly badly, especially on KotH maps I’ll say “Something’s not working” which opens discussion on what heroes would work better for the team. But beyond that, calling out people to switch is counter productive and divides the team, it’s placing blame on someone indirectly and it’s irritating.

Agree with you completely!
Actually - one just happened now:
Bardobeing: No widow on this map, switch
Me: Just FYI - you won’t get anywhere ordering someone around, I wouldn’t switch just on you doing that, alone. Manners.
Bardobeing: I don’t hate widows, I hate widow players
<Bardobeing has left the game, has left voice channel.>
Pyro: I’m leaving too <Pyro has left tge game, left voice channel- done so many times btw>
In that time after, the Mercy, myself and widow talked and the Mercy basically kept demanding of widow to switch and demeaned her for not doing so, not understanding that by demanding and ordering her, it was going to go nowhere. The reason for the loss was not ONE person… it was the entire morale of the team because of the choice they made on how to react and behave.
