Tip for getting around the 20 character limit!

Since I still see a lot of people giving short replies then typing things like “must be 20 characters”, “#20characters”, “blah blah 20 characters”, I thought I might as well make a post about how to get around writing something like that in a post that is under the character limit.

It’s very simple: use emojis! :smiley_cat:

The characters used to insert the emoji (colon_smiley_cat_colon, for example) count towards the 20 characters needed to creat a post. Of course, some people might not like using emojis and would prefer to come up with clever ways to fill the limit, but I thought I’d just toss this out there for anyone who might find it helpful! :smile_cat:

This noodle hopes she’s been of some help and that you all have a great night! :last_quarter_moon_with_face:

You should never try to get around the rules, as that just leads to trouble. If you can’t make a 20 word sentence on the topic, maybe re think if you need to respond to the post then.

Edit bad at this but thanks for tip

Well the problem is it doesn’t stop people from making 20 char threads

I used that to answer a hero (someone asked who they should main). Just saying ‘Brigitte’ was too short so I added a :star_struck: I don’t feel like I skirted the rules, I feel like thanks to the rules I added in even more emotion to my post. Thanks character limit

I see your point, I suppose, but since I tend to give a lot of short replies to conversational threads I’ve been using it to keep things sounding conversational and not awkward. I don’t see how emoji abuse could really cause problems though…

I think it was intended to stop responses like “K” or “Bye” or maybe even things like “LOL” I dunno, maybe this is just how I see it, but if the message has actual content and still doesn’t meet the limit it’s probably fine to use one or maybe two emoji to meet the limit. I even try to make them relevant haha

That’s a good way to look at it! Personally I like when people use emojis. It adds… :sunglasses: character to the post.

Eugh, I’d rather not emoji spam. I’d rather use Japanese emoticons. Much cuter.

Oh wait, does it have to do with the new system? I don’t remember what it’s called, but you know, it gives you privileges for being popular or something? It’s a pretty dumb system to start with if you ask me…

Now I’m probably gonna get banned. /Mei voice/ I was only trying to help. :pensive:

What? No, I don’t know much about that, I’m still a simple peasant in these forums :woman_farmer:
