with a reset the smurfs are deconcentrated and remixed. they become less impactful and balance out better for/against, instead of clumping up in the degen ranks.

the top 500s will be remixed into the fray so they will have to grind like the rest. they will represent 1% of the population and gm/masters will make up another 7% or whatever. they won’t impact things for long.
meanwhile reset dislodges mmr-lock-in effects gets rid of tail-edge effects non-transitive effects and forces alt accounts to repeat their work which incentivizes mains etc. A reset will minimize the disruption for the maximum number of people.

i rly like watching the same whitelisted ppl bypass the rigging bcuz they haven’t had to grind through a total playerbase reset since 2016. except i dont? my viewbots keep them afloat bcuz i’d rather them make fun of bronze players than bag my groceries at checkout. every1 has to do their part to support the no-reset community. let’s make sure they playtest months in advance to spoil everything ow2 doesn’t deliver.
