Tier 55? Are you insane?

not really.

OW’s skins have 2 major issues.

1: you the owner rarely ever see your own skin (as everyone is mostly in 1st person) and its others who see your skin.

2: even if you are ok with that…few ppl play more than a few heroes. Take me for example. Genji gettign mythic skin in BP? I, who do not like genji’s playstyle at all and will never willingly use them, have legit no interest or use for said skin. Thus the cost would have nothing of value.

oh no well how about you try to grind her too create new account and see if you can unlock her before competitive open ?

yes remember pink mercy ? now people would complained next year why mythic cyber demon genji didn’t return and they learned BP content never return

I did the math, based on the screen shot for the Weekly Challenge menu that showed how much it takes to unlock a level of the Battlepass, which is 10k EXP per level, from what it seems.

Since, 10k EXP is half of how much is needed to level up the boarder in OW1, 55 BP levels is equivalent to about 27 border levels.

So, about 27 border levels worth of EXP is needed to unlock a new hero from just grinding.
And if you imagine how long it usually takes for you to level up 27 border levels, try to imagine how much faster would it go, when completely the Weekly challenges for 5k points each.

If the player does end up completing 11 Weekly Challenges in a week, that is 5 & a half border levels, on top of the normal rate of playing, when grinding 27 border levels (assuming the amount of EXP you gain from playing a match in OW2 is the same as OW1).

And that’s just the BP EXP you get from Weekly Challenges.
Who knows how much more EXP you get from the Daily, Seasonal, & Competitive challenges.
(There are tabs for all of those categories in the Weekly Challenge screenshot.)

After taking all of that into consideration, I feel like the normal rate of achieving 27 border levels in OW1, which is about 55 BP levels, will be much more sped up than what we perceive to take a long time.

And that’s just due to earning EXP from challenges.
We still get the extra 20% EXP boost from playing matches as a group.

Personally, I almost always play solo & get through 25 border levels without much thought, within 1 or 2 weeks.
And those are usually my dead weeks, when I play the least amount of OW1.

But it will differ, on a player to player basis.

I was replying to the poster that thought every new hero will be instantly unlocked / free for OW1 users. This will only be the case for Kiriko, this one time on October 4th (they probably changed that last minute in response to the leaks that received a lot of backlash).

However, upcoming new heroes (tank hero in December and any new hero in 2023) won’t be “instantly for free” for OW1 owners. They will have to either buy the Premium Battle Pass or grind Tier 55 to unlock them.

My point is that they may reconsider the tier 55 to unlock new heroes in the future, if it’s deemed too long to grind. All it needs is a lot of negative feedback. There will most likely be a survey after season 1 (just like there was one on Diablo Immortal).

That is to indoctrinate veteran players into the new system. You get a pass now, but think about a year or so down the road.

Great if true. Realistically I think exp gain gets “nerfed”. Honestly if they make weekly challenges not require wins I almost don’t have a problem with this new system IF exp gain is similar to ow1 (well heroes in bp still sucks ofc). Im still very much on the wait and see train

The BP is awesome outside of this part. The worst part is that there are XP boosts they have already discussed so you damn well know this grind is going to be obnoxious at bare minimum

Cry more champ. Just play the game and not be so entitled.

You gotta play the game if you want your din-dins. So many expect to get everything with minimal effort.

Great news. You can spend $10, once every other season, and never have to play OW for free to unlock the free hero. $10 every 18 weeks comes out to about $2.40/month AND you still get to play the free game all day, every day. You’re right! That IS INSANE! BEST deal on the face of the planet, actually!

I didn’t say ‘instantly free…’ just clarifying that they were ‘free…’ :upside_down_face:

We do not know how fast you can actually get to tier 55. I see that it is 10k XP needed per tier. So, experience boosters (by joining a team), the challenges (weekly and daily), and the XP gained during and after matches, might make it rather a quick experience.
We’ll see, I ain’t panicking.

solo is about 50 hours to get 55k exp

… maybe because heroes have always been available to play without any time investment to unlock them since the beginning of the game, and that the “din-dins” previously was successfully increasing your skills as the heroes you invest time in. now, the playtime investment is barred behind having to unlock the newest shiniest heroes. which obviously will be an issue in a game that wants to be a competitive e-sport.

what an obscure way to say you support p2w style taking over-watch.

You didn’t need to clarify anything as my initial post wasn’t addressed to you :slightly_smiling_face:

  1. It’s a forum, anyone can chime in to any discussion…
  2. I was clarifying where you incorrectly said ‘OW1 owners won’t be getting upcoming new heroes for free’
  3.

Yeah I think tier 10-15 is fair if they insist on having them in the battlepass. I understand why they’re doing it but the whole point of overwatch is being able to play all these different characters who are diverse and from different countries and cultures.

True, I gave the poster I answered to a proper response. Feel free to check it  !

I didn’t need to repeat the word “instantly” 'cause it was already implied in the person’s post I was responding to. I guess you weren’t attentive enough before jumping to conclusions … But I sure forgive you for your mistake :kissing_heart:.

Love love and butterflies !
