Throwing or no?

The other day I got matched with someone that was a healer main that went Symmetra and immediately left the channel. It was not a good Symmetra map, and we lost. This person told my duo partner after the game that they went Symmetra because they didn’t like someone on our team.

In my opinion, picking a suboptimal character for a map because you don’t like someone is throwing, so I reported them.

What do you think?

I would think so. Lots of people sulk when their heroes are picked so they lock in doomfist.

You did the right thing. If someone’s throwing it’s up to you to report them.

The only reason I almost didn’t report them is the Blizzard stance that throwing is not picking/playing what we perceive to be a suboptimal character. I only reported because they did it with intent.

From everything you said they did, especially the fact that they picked a more situational character because they had a bone to pick with a person on your team, that’s just childish behavior that sadly ruined your game.

I’d say it’s 100% reportable and it was imo also throwing.

Doomfitters hm, I get Hanzo bois

The person picked a hero just to spite someone. The person also left voice chat and refused to communicate. Yeah in my eyes that is very deserving of a report.

Just because they played healer alot doesn’t mean they have to is the thing.

They most likely left voice chat because people can be toxic- and he or she prob did not want to be demanded to switch.

People do not have to be in voice chat- although its helpful.

Unless they did an obvious throw- its not throwing.

PLaying an off meta who is not your main is not throwing.

Reminder- if you do a false report it is you who can be suspended.

It is ok to not like someone. It is ok to pick off meta. You are not the end all know all of gameplay strategy.

Hero choice in it’s self is not bannable, but if they are not trying or feeding the enemy free ultimate charge they are throwing and should be reported.

Absolutely throwing.

I really do not think you read the original post fully before responding…I clearly stated in the OP that they picked the character they did and left chat out of spite. They admitted they did that because they didn’t like someone on the team. I didn’t report them just for picking a suboptimal character, as much as I do think many of my lost games are due to teammates doing just that.

I think that a lot of people are pointing fingers at each other when they should instead be holding the Overwatch team responsible for all the things they have done to contribute to the degradation of the game’s matchmaking quality.

These guys aren’t really doing much to inspire change in their community and it’s pretty safe to say that at this rate things will only get worse before they step in and do something to make things better.

And no, I am not suggesting that PBSR adjustments be removed.

I think they aren’t doing enough to combat the toxicity in game. Basing bans off # of reports only is not enough.

well i mean what do you expect them to do? they are under staffed and just looking at the game it is very obvious that they never put a lot of thought into how to create a dedicated competitive platform.

they just thought it was going to be love and peace and rainbows and everybody was gonna be all hunky-dory for some reason despite their company’s more than sufficient background and experience with player behavior

but you know what? they are pretty responsive about banning xQc all the time and they banned that one guy because timthetatman threatened to quit streaming over it. so all you gotta do is be good enough for other people to want to watch you play the game and blizzard will be right there at the snap of your fingers

Ahhh - I did skim, sorry. If they stated that then yes.

I actually don’t see many people do things out of spite in the game. Sadly, I see more smurfing, griefing, and toxic arguments.

No problem

I’ve seen all kinds of spiteful stuff in game. Stream snipers are the worst.
