Thoughts on Deadlock?

I understand Deadlock is a third person and a true moba compared to Overwatch, but I have to say its a breath of fresh air playing a game like this. It has Overwatch-esque abilities and the gameplay loop feels seemingly infinite with the combos and ability changes you can pull off.

Part of me wishes the OW team uses remnants from the scrapped PVE and implemented a gamemode that allows us to upgrade our abilities throughout the game to spice it up. Would be a fun arcade mode.

The devs are miles above Overwatch. They drop patches like every other day.

I genuinely think Deadlock has had more good balance changes in the last month that Overwatch has had in the last 8 years

Gameplay wise there is some way to go, it is far too easy for 1 hero to farm and become OP with statsticks and win. The dark atmosphere also makes it hard to see who is who at a distance.

At least in OW2 you can at least try to outplay a god-tier genji. In Deadlock once the enemy has all the statsticks you can’t do anything.

Deadlock is great. It’s gonna be banger when it comes out. Balance is bit off, there are some crazy builds you can make.

For a early alpha it looks ok, if you don’t mind stuff like missing textures, 3d models (especially heroes) need updating.

I like the movement, different playstyles within each character. Very good hero shooter moba.

As long as they steer clear of making the game for a “modern audience” they will make money.

Realistically that’s all you have to do right now.

personally like a 3/10

matchmaking is horrible and the rest of the game is just a low skill stunfest

the rest of the low score is just alpha stuff ill rate higher as they make it better

The main problem is that its more a MOBA than a shooter… farming lanes and turrets is boring as hell and I dont like having shops and to farm the coins and to get the last hits…

It will be a huge success, but will make more an impact on Smite, Dota and LoL players than OW players.

My thoughts on Deadlock are

  • It’s going to be a popular game.
  • It doesn’t actually play anything like Overwatch at all.
  • Because it’s a true MOBA, it’s an enormous time sink. I won’t be investing that much time in it.
  • I don’t actually find it that fun or interesting personally.
  • It’s already overrun with cheaters and has no anti-cheat. They say one is coming but they’ve been promising that for other games for years. Good luck.
  • It’s extremely toxic. It makes Overwatch look like a warm friendly community.

3pp DotA. Personally, I highly despise any competitive game with shooter mechanics based of 3rd person perspective. I looks like a complete pepega. Dead on arrival to me. Can’t wait to see if I am right after the release. But I guess, it resonates with fortnite enjoyers. My condolences. And yeah, plasticine setting, what a puke.

It looks like a good MOBA game to me. I’m going to try it out.

My biggest problem with it is the matches often run 30, 40, even 50 minutes. I much prefer the shorter game length Overwatch has.

Not really my thing. I remember my brother trying to get me into league and there was agressive typing in chat like every 7 seconds and me feeling bad because I had no idea what to do or what to buy or what minions/monsters i’m supposed to kill ( if im even allowed to in the first place).

But another part of me is psyched that valve is back to making games.

It’s Valve, and they’ve kinda sucked lately. They still owe the CS2 crowd a lot of hard work and apologies. Not sure if I want to give Deadlock a chance when Valve may still deserve contempt (TF2 was completely out of control for years, thankfully they’re banning bots now).

Gargussy.
What else.

I think it has a potential, because Valve is perhaps one of the most experienced company when it comes to the team PvP games.

They have team PvP FPS csgo, team PvP moba dota2 and team pvp hero shooter tf2. Blizz was perhaps one of the most experienced 1v1 game company in the Starcraft 1 era, but since WoW team dominated the company, they often confused team PvP with team PvE which are and should be very different, and these mismatches often pose big problems later that cannot be solved easily.

Kelvin is the only hero that looks like a human being. The rest are hideous.

i could be remembering it wrong, but the ow2 devs did that during the alpha and beta and im pretty sure deadlock is in some sort of early access alpha/beta

the real test for deadlock will be post launch support

I can’t play it, just like Marvel Rivals.
Can’t play any of these stupid games because I’m not a streamer.
Probably won’t be playing any of them when they fully come out either because that’s a garbage way to handle betas. Be a popular streamer or 1 person picked out of 5,000 or you can’t play.
Trash companies.
They’re only in beta and they already have two of the most toxic communities as well.

Well, it’s a MOBA. That probably won’t change. Farm is a central component of MOBAs and Deadlock seems to go with that idea strongly considering the jungle exists. MOBAs are more about macro, shooters like Overwatch are more about micro.

It’s my main game for now, let’s see how long it lasts.
