Thought I’d try a widow rework

AKA Wound one man. Make him cry out, “I need healing!”

First let me start by saying I don’t like the charging aspect of widow’s 1shot. That said, the mechanic is so undeniably Widowmaker, I don’t want to get rid of it.

For the purpose of this hypothetical rework, “charge” determines the dose of the asp venom (widow is also associated with poisonous snakes) and therefore the subsequent lethality of the shot. The effect stops health regen (pesky thing, that) unless administered to by a support. This is part of the design. The stricken teammate will have to seek out a support or coordinate with a support to “stop the bleeding.”

Say it with me. I need healing! The support will approach the DPS, potentially becoming a target for widow. This design takes pressure off widow too because the injured player must make the tactical decision to disengage to seek a licensed medical professional. Or yonder health kit. Please break cover to get that health! :smiling_imp:

Okay, I can see a Mercy pocket happening here. But also the opportunity to eliminate the other team’s support. :broken_heart:

Another idea I’m toying with for this version of widow would be to have 1shots (headshots like before) as a usable ability with a cooldown. Or maybe she doesn’t have a 1shot. Hanzo doesn’t.

this sounds cool… but then we’d have 2 anas in the game.

I think widow’s range should just be decreased for one shot headshots, I don’t mind the one shot per say I mind the fact that she can be at the end of a horribly designed map (havana for example) and get one shot risk free with no way to contest it. If you want the one shot you should have high risk attached to it.

Yeah, that’s what I thought too. This widow would be more of a support killer, not that she doesn’t do that already. She’d still be hitscan, and she wouldn’t have nano.

Most of her kit would actually stay the same.
