I just want blizzard to know im never touching this cesspool of catering again
Curseban change?
You mean the ban against using profanity? Which has been in place since 2016? That change?
i dont swear when i play, it just aint me. i say my F bombs out loud in my studio room, for no one but my neighbors to hear me
but i dont have an issue with other people swearing as long as theyre not being complete jackwaggles about it. the profanity filter exists for a reason and if you disable the filter, you signla youre oklay with it. lets be real here. if you dont like it, enable the filter. if youre a jackwaggle, youre gonna be one whether you can swear or not, thats the real reportable stuff imo. like weird stuff that goes way too far
Bro they banned a pro player for typing cursing in chat logs. that doesn’t seem a little much to you? he will also not be able to play in the next tournament which is just ridiculous
Nope.
He broke the rules. He got the punishment he was due.
Actions have consequences, he’s now learning that first hand.
Longer than that.
I think in game CoC didn’t change since 2004
Oh I know, but I’m focusing with respect to Overwatch for now, which has only been around since 2016.
Ignore the shills in comments. Something is clearly up despite these rules being in place since the games launch.
Never before would you get banned for saying curse words. Yet, now they’re enforcing it? Even other OW pros are clowning on this policy right now.
UPDATE (Oct 12):
In addition to the improved profanity filter and updated penalties for inappropriate language, we’ve also performed a manual action wave against some of the worst offenders of toxic language in Overwatch. This action will take effect with updates to profanity filter and penalties in the next live game patch.
NeVeR bEfOrE!
And yet people cry about it and make topics about “false bans” since 2016 on OW forums…
What, another ban that has a negative effect on players and might have unpredictable side effects?
I see a missed opportunity - monetisation. Add a swear jar.
Say it all you want, but I’ve never gotten banned at all for saying curse words in the past. Its ridiculous they’re even doing it now when there is a profanity filter in place that you need to manually turn off in order to see curse words.
True, but you can’t ignore the fact that there has been a substantial increase of these bans as of late. I caught a two week chat ban despite never using voice or any slurs of any form. I maybe cursed once or twice during a match, but never in a derogative manner.
Its a broken system, and its clearly affecting people who shouldn’t be hit with this
Bro there is no point arguing with them. to us this is just a conversation but to them its a battle of the egos. they will fight through tooth and nail to feel like there’re right. their point is always the same there’re right and you’re wrong.
That just means you’ve never been reported. As for the filter, it has never given you permission to swear, ever. Blizzard even explicity stated back in 2020 that the filter existing wasn’t an excuse:
Remember that the existence of profanity filters does not make it acceptable for players to use offensive, hateful, or language that violates our In-Game Code of Conduct —and as always, we encourage you to report instances of such behavior if you encounter them. Using language report by the community and deemed offensive by Blizzard will result in severe account restrictions.
I’m not going to bother replying either. Its just depressing seeing people think this is remotely ok.
So you don’t think people should be punished for breaking rules then?
So if I went into your house, and you had a rule that you didn’t want feet put on the chairs or tables, and I decided to ignore your rule, you should just be okay with that right? I shouldn’t be reprimanded, I shouldn’t be told to leave if I can’t respect your rules etc etc, right?
Yeah after blizz rode the backs of xqc, dafran, and other huge streamer/pros to gain fame and popularity, even seagull and mL7 curse. Countless others. Something is definitely up.
They should, but the rules are completely null and void when they don’t even follow their own policy.
Do you know what is on McCrees belt buckle? “BAMF”? I wonder what that could possibly mean Or the fact Tracer regularly calls people the w word with her punk skin.
You can’t enforce rules when they don’t even follow their own rules. It’s hypocritical and absurd. Literally a majority of people think its stupid to get banned over curse words when its regularly used by literally everyone unless you’re a boomer or a 60 year old nun.
Should it?
Because he’s a pro he can say things other people can’t?
No, it’s the opposite. I’m glad the rule isn’t just for the little people.
Like the pro who got tilted, said things he obviously shouldn’t have. More than once.
And then blames everyone but himself when he gets got? Hmmm
Oh this nonsense again.
The code of conduct controls what WE as players are allowed to do. It is a policy that only applies to us.
Blizzard developers are not held to the same policy with their work, they never have been. They develop what they want, and then they put it in the game and the ESRB/PEGI or any other number of ratings boards look at that content and decide what the rating for the game should be.
