This Season is the Worst Yet for Matchmaking

Been watching a friend play. He’s the same skill level as me (about silver to gold skill), been streaming his games to me this season through Discord. It’s terrible. He only plays QP and MH and he’s just constantly put against teams of sweaty players coming from comp, gold weapons on most characters.

Stomp after stomp after stomp against him as he gets brand new players with the enemy team all being chronic players and veterans. He consistently fights against groups as well, so the whole promise of not fighting against groups as solo q is a bald faced lie. MH also seems entirely rigged with people that main certain characters consistently getting their mains and decimating the enemy team while his team only gets characters they rarely ever play. If there’s a Hanzo main on the enemy team, they WILL get their character eventually, 100%, and they will decimate. Usually they’ll get him again later if they die.

The game is also at an all time high for toxicity with all of these super high skill players being put against low skill constantly, just tearing them up in chat. I just watched a match of him playing MH and it was truly something else. The enemy team was all a group and just tearing apart his team which had 2 new players. The entire enemy team had gold weapons on most characters they were. At the end one of the new players typed “Well that sucked” and several of the enemy team responded by typing “ok BRONZE LOLOL”, “st*u BRONZE LMAOOO”, “Awww gonna cry little bronzie?”

What even is this game anymore? Is this the experience everyone is having? Every day I’m more and more glad I uninstalled. I’m honestly trying to get him to but he’s having the same problem I did where he put too much time into it.

(Note: He streams to me every time he plays, a few matches every day)

I play QP and I’m also a new player, I have no access to competitive. Sometimes enemy team blocks my team on a spawn for a half of match, probably because we suck… or I suck…anyway I leave the game disappointed

Matchmaking is a joke and it’s why Mercer is retiring. Thank god! Maybe someone will actually do something about it.

I know, but I desperately want the game to get better since it gave me so many good times early on. It’s kind of depressing. I quit, uninstalled, but I can’t stop giving it attention lmao.

I have gold weapons on my support heroes. Comp is actually more balanced. He may be better off doing that and also earning gold weapons. I just play QP when I don’t feel like playing comp.

I mean it’s the same problem I had before I quit but worse. All the people from comp came to QP because “comp is ruined”, so you have all these people tryharding like they do in comp in QP and ruining the casual nature of it as they pubstomp uncoordinated, ungrouped teams of casual players.

Now it happens much more frequently, it looks like. The matchmaking balance is somehow worse and pits solo Q against grouped players from coming from comp much more often.

That doesn’t make sense to me, because QP is much looser with matchmaking. People want to win games for dailies. Why not try to win a game? You want to lose?

garbage take. It is ok to still be interested in something you don’t do at the same level you used to. It is ok to want to see something succeed where it is otherwise failing. And it is ok to check up on something you used to do, in order to decide whether it is still for you. I swear, tiktok has destroyed children’s ability to understand the real world.

I watched him play again today. He fought the same five stack in no limits FOUR TIMES IN A ROW, and got stomped all four times as they spammed “EZ” and “COPE” at the end and smack talked the other team all throughout every match. They all had gold weapons on nearly every character they played.

Every single match of this he had entirely new people on his team, no groups. Blizzard are compulsive liars.

(Forgot, even though they all spammed EZ and COPE every match and were horribly toxic throughout each, they all had endorsement level 4, which goes to show literally nobody left playing this game gives a s##t anymore and don’t bother reporting)

Based take, but that kicked off in society well before TikTok.

Cutting off what upsets and derails you from appreciating and actually living life is key to understanding the real world. By suggesting OP keeps attached to an overt self imposed abusive relationship is stifling self progress. The real world won’t tell you when or how to make things better for yourself, but people who see it will.

Also, cute of you to assume I have that drivel installed.

I relapsed and installed again so I could see firsthand just how bad the matchmaker is.
I played a whole day, basically.

Across every mode, the matches were either HARD stomp wins, or HARD stomp losses, literally NO inbetween.
The stomp wins were always against people that barely played at all or brand new players, and the stomp losses were always against people with gold weapons on most characters and coming from comp. Most of the stomp losses were against groups.

Yeah. The matchmaker is worse than it’s ever been. I can say with 100% certainty it has never been worse throughout all of OW’s lifetime.

The way the game handles the 50/50 win/loss rate this season is to “force” you to win by putting you against people that have no chance of winning, and then “force” you to lose by putting you against people you have no chance of beating. Doesn’t matter how well you play. Most of the time, during stomp losses, I’m doing the best on the team, but it doesn’t matter because it’s literally impossible to beat them. You can carry like absolutely crazy. Going 20 kills, 1 death compared to the 10 kills 4 deaths the rest of your team has, but it doesn’t matter, because you are one person and one person can’t change the outcome of a match, especially when the entire rest of the enemy team is better than you or anyone else on your’s.

Quick Play, Open Queue, Mystery Heroes, Hybrid Maps, No Limits, Low Gravity, CTF, it’s all the same.
When the game wants you to win, you will win, when it wants you to lose, you will lose. There is no way to fight against it at all. The game really does play you, just so it can force the illusion of “fair” 50/50 win/loss rate, but it’s artificial. There are no real “fair” matches anymore, it’s all decided on match start.
If you leave matches you know are stomp losses, it will keep putting you into them over and over and over and over until you stay and get it over with, because it WILL force you to have 50/50. You literally cannot fight it. It won’t let you not have 50/50.

Yes I uninstalled again. This s### is putrid.

Note: I also fought the same 5 stack group 3 times in a row and got stomped by them every time, and every time they spammed “EZ” and told us how much we sucked. Nobody else on my team was grouped. New people on my team every time but for some god forsaken reason I was forced to fight them every single time.
