Did you try getting a support ticket ?

I reviewed your thread in tech support, and your WinMTR test clearly shows data loss starting at your own router. Meaning there was a technical malfunction starting there, until that is corrected, disconnections will continue to be a problem for you.

How do i do that?..

It could be your internet provider

Please reflect on your actions. You need to have d/c-ed from about 30 comp games before you’re banned. Those are 30 games where you could have fixed your problems before dragging your team down by d/c-ing.

Please review your router as per the post by the tech support guy

Not 30 but 6.
The problem was that i didn’t knew that i would be banned for the entire season by this problem and the day i got banned, there was no connection problem until evening when i played my last comp.
During that day i thought blizz did solve the issue and i was back playing comp with consistent 20-40ms ping.
Before this problem occurred i managed to reached Platinum rank and i was sure that i would reach Diamond in a week or two.
But this problem made me lose 500 SR and that day i got banned i managed to gain 200 SR before i got dc’ed at evening.
I have planned to buy a new Wifi Router and will use a ethernet cable for my PC to avoid any problems in future.
I have already uninstalled this game so i don’t think i will play this even after i get unban.
I might play if they lift the Season ban now…

Get Help - Blizzard Support is the link to the overwatch support page you might be able to open up a ticket there for your case and get support from blizzard. I’m sure they’d be more than happy to take you through solving this problem.

Also, WyomingMyst says that there is data loss starting at your own router. You could do well to get a new router or change the DNS to an open one like googleDNS. Sometimes the cache your service provider holds can cause problems with connectivity in some games.

If you would like to try google’s public dns then you can configure your network settings to use the IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers.
This can be done by going into Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center and clicking change adapter settings on the left. Then, right clicking on your adapter and opening up properties and going to Internet Protocol Version 4 on the list inside the menu and opening up properties for that and then you will be able to change the DNS server address inside there.

I’m not an expert, just someone with an idea or two. Either way using google’s public DNS wont hurt you in any way that I can think of, even if it doesn’t solve your problem.

You can also go into command prompt and type in Ipconfig /flushDNS to clear the dns cache that is stored locally on your computer.

You could also maybe call up your internet provider and have them look into the problem for you as well. Internet problems suck dude. I feel for you :frowning:

Changing DNS settings related to public IP addresses won’t change anything, as his issue stems from his own local area connection. Also, any problems related to DNS generally don’t involve laggy internet, rather, your computer would fail to establish a connection.

I don’t mean to come across as being rude or anything, but I see a need to clarify a few things related to IT, as people tend to spread misinformation.

Going based upon WyomingMyst’s analysis, I would ask for you to check a few things regarding your internet setup at home. Are you connecting to the internet with cables or wireless? Wireless connections can be spotty and unreliable given the circumstances. Does your router have a firewall enabled? What type of internet speeds do you have? 100mb/s or 1Gb/s? Are you using a dial up modem to connect to the internet?

oh no I’m just saying these are possible things he could do, and things that I personally would do. I also directed him to support. He’s not lagging necessarily though he’s disconnecting. Seemingly in this game alone.
If he’s experiencing actual packet loss then he needs to talk to his internet provider. Like I said, but in the meantime I’d say it doesn’t hurt to try. Also sometimes changing the dns can help fix some connectivity issues, which is why I recommended that anyways. It’s just something to do, I never claimed it was a golden goose lol. I simply just said everything related that I could before I would leave because I don’t intend to actually be active in the forum.

You’re right. It is 6.

There are 6 leaver penalties that occur in succession to cause a season long ban. It is your responsibility as a player to educate yourself as to the levels of punishment:

10 minutes
30 minutes
2 hours
8 hours
24 hours
Season Ban

Each comes with a 50 SR penalty

I’m sorry if I came across in a condescending manner. You’re right. The user reported that his specific issue was with his disconnections. I read his other post regarding his mention that he was experiencing a ping time of 1000+ ms and assumed that this was a symptom of his problem.

I’m an IT major whose close to receiving a certification in the industry. Just as friendly advice, DNS setting associate phrases with IP addresses. When you type in www.google.com, your computer will either go to its local files or to a server to retrieve the IP address associated with that phrase. Sometimes this DNS data can go “bad” in a sense, and can cause an issue where you can’t connect to www.google.com despite being fully connected to the internet and being able to access other websites. Using /flushdns will resolve the issue by wiping out the “bad” data in its cache and forcing the computer to retrieve the correct information from the DNS server.

I guess what’s important to highlight is that once a connection has been established, DNS services are no longer needed, because your computer can already identify the entity that it’s looking for. If a user tells me about a problem of a spotty internet connection that sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t, I would explore other options besides DNS.

Again, I’m sorry if I came across as being rude or patronizing. It’s just that I see a lot of misinformation spread around the internet regarding IT and computers in general.

You get banned for longer and longer every time until this happens; any amount of logical thinking would come to the conclusion that a season or permanent ban was coming, and a quick google search would tell you the specifics on bans in a few seconds.

Sorry to put it so bluntly, but the information is clearly out there, it was your own fault that it came to this and no one else’s.

So you lost 500 SR; and then without even considering the consequences, you continued to play without fixing your router.

It’s hard to feel sympathetic for you when you clearly had many chances to fix your internet problem.

Good, you should have done this after the first few disconnects, but still good.

So let me get this straight.

You got disconnected multiple times, and saw multiple bans occur on your account without even considering that the problem was on your end (it almost always is).

Then after getting a season ban you uninstall the game, and turn to the forums to complain and throw blame around without even verifying where the problem originated.

And now, after fully acknowledging that the issue was with your router, and that the ban was 100% justified; you are attempting to give this company (that was fully in the right to ban you for the multiple games you ruined) some sort of ultimatum that you will play the game again only if they remove this rightful ban on your account.

Is this just troll bait?

Or are you actually just incapable of understanding that your actions have consequences?

I’m honestly curious.

Yeah we should leave because they gain popularity to a few and not to all… we sgould not spent money to this crappy Game

You should have read my 2nd comment on this post but never mind.
The reason was that I had no idea that i would get ban for the entire competitive season because of constant leaving.
The only game where you can get ban for leaving that i had play was CSGO and even in that there were max 7 days ban and it keeps repeating.

There is no need to feel sympathetic for me.As you don’t know,I tried everything in my hands from my side to fix this issue.
As I told you i also play CSGO but never ever i had occurred this type of ping and disconnection problem in that game.

Was going to do it anyways.

Yes I didn’t considered that problem was at my end.WHY?
Overwatch severs always had problem with Indian region cause we never had our own dedicated severs and always had to play on American servers which give us somewhat decent ping.
Check this Indian Servers to be included in American region

I posted my 1st complain on Technical forums on May 25 as I was getting multiple disconnections while playing Arcade."lost connection to the game server"-india
Next day May 26 i encountered no disconnections throughout the entire day until evening where i got disconnected mid game and got banned for entire Season. The reason i was playing competitive cause i thought they solved the problem.
As i was angry because of that ban I wrote this post here in this forums and uninstalled the game.
The next day the dev replied to my post saying that it was my own routers fault and not their’s servers.

After i got banned i researched on several other post on this forums to see if anybody has encountered this same type of problems and guess what i wasn’t the only one who had to suffer this type of UNFIAR ban system. As you keep mentioning that this is a rightful ban on my account you should know that i never ever left a competitive game mid ways because i was toxic or i didn’t get my main hero to play.Even when my entire team leaves and it’s only me i never left from it,i have always finished the game no matter what.Getting banned for the entire season just because of my internet is bull$hit.

I don’t know what that means but i am not a troll that i can confirm.

I am more than capable of understanding that every actions have some consequences but i never ever have i imagined that the consequences were season ban.If i had knew that i wouldn’t have touched the competitive ladder until the problem was perfectly solved.

The one I referenced? And the one with the ultimatum? Yeah, I read it.

That’s no excuse for leaving games for any reason. Blizzard has made this information widely available and like I said in my other post, a quick google search would have informed you.

Simple mistake, but it still ruined other peoples games. In this case it wasn’t even a problem blizzard could fix.

Were the games you ruined for your team considered fair?

Was it fair that all of your teammates for those games had to lose SR because of your own ignorance?

It really doesn’t matter if it was intentional or not. You ruined games, you got banned.

Seems perfectly fair and justified to me.

Rules are rules, the information is out there.

Just because you didn’t know about the rules, does not make you exempt from them.

Take this time to reflect on the actions that lead you to break these rules; and maybe next time do any amount of research at all into the punishments for ruining other peoples games, before you do exactly that.

Trying to get around the automatic profanity filter will get you quickly banned, have fun with that. :slightly_smiling_face:

Don’t let the door hit you in the a-

Nevermind, see you dude.

I have zero sympathy for your situation. Your DCs caused SR loss for your team each DC. Personally I would lobby Blizzard to triple the ban times and make it a season ban after 4, not 6. If you want to play overwatch with a flaky connection, play quickplay or custom games.

Knowingly playing with a faulty connection is essentially gameplay sabotage. Dozens of people lost matches because of it, hence the ban. Good luck next season when you have your connection sorted.
