I have been playing this game for right around 2 years since I bought it in Sep. 2016. The title sums up my thoughts but I will go more in depth about why.

New Heroes

New heroes like brig and Moira are really un fun to play against since they don't really require a headshot like mccree to deal good damage. A spontaneous Moira orb is honestly more annoying than a spontaneous trash mouse bomb. Hamston is perfect because he is high skill and high reward, it doesn't feel bad to die to him whereas being ganked by a random healer with a damage orb who didn't even know you where there as a tracer has made me straight up "Exit to Desktop".

Ranked is Broken

Ranked feels terrible, here is my history with it: Some how I've gotten worse at the game since I started playing. In season one I never officially ranked, I was too scared to finish placement matches.
Season 2 I ranked in at 1948 and fell to 1638
Season 3 Climbed up to 1898 and fell to 1287
Season 4 Season high of 1570 but finished with 1393
Season 5 Finally made it out of bronze with 1700 SR and a season high of 1866
Season 6 Season high of 1925 finished with 1886
Season 7 Finally made it into gold with 2028 SR
Season 8 Finished with 2073 which is still progress I guess
Season 9 Finished with 1983. slight incline in progress
Season 10 I placed at 2083 and although its not over yet, I am currently at 1728
I don't understand how I consistently stayed in low gold for multiple seasons and then doped to mid silver in one fel swoop. This, in account with how pro players have multiple accounts in diamond, master, and grand master, even though the same player is on each account makes me feel like my rankings aren't true, since their rankings aren't true either since they somehow place in multiple ranks across different MMR's.

New events feel lame
I never liked lucio ball so having lucio ball 3 YEARS in a row might be stretching it. nuff' said.

I don't watch the overwatch league
I am glad to see overwatch become an e-sport but I don't care that much. I watch the clips on youtube for the best moments in the overwatch league and thats it. It provides 1:30 seconds of entertainment for me, but boy I am I glad we have lucio ball again so that we can have the OW league. (no im not glad)

Final Thoughts


The game is not fun anymore, solo que is filled with random moira orbs and Torbjorn mains that aren't in team chat, and the new events have about as much content as the entirety of Warlords of Draenor. I will keep ptr to see new heroes and watch dev updates to check and see if they deleted moira and brig yet. I love this game so much and I have tried so hard to enjoy it but I just can't.

I can’t speak for PC players but on Console the SR system is totally corrupted. With smurf accounts on the console, high level players protecting their high ELO make unlimited low-level accounts to purposely grief those in bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Sadly, many at the low levels are at the improper ELO because of this corrupted gameplay.

ranked is not broken, you’re at your sr range because you cannot perform better than everyone else in that sr range

Gee I wonder why they can’t perform better than top 500 smurfs while having throwers and leavers on their team. Clearly their fault. /s

smurfs aren’t the reason why he is at his rank neither is throwers or leavers

i was placed in silver season 7 and now low grandmaster, players like him just make excuses to not improve

So what I hear is “For some reason people keep picking heroes that do things other than click on heads nonstop, I see no way to show skill other than clicking heads, I don’t care about what the pros do in this game, and yet somehow players at my initial level is improving faster than me and pushing me down in rank!”

You’re not wrong. I came to pc from console (2900 sr for most my career) and is paced low gold and fell to silver. Stopped watched gods and recorded myself play and I climbed from 1500-2500 in 2 seasons.

It’s all about mentality and acknowledging I have a lot I can learn each game with a hero I am comfortable on.

I expected you to talk about current meta or idk, maybe hammond bugs, but instead we got some
" i get ranked higher than i end up q.q system is rigged". You feel in the ranking because you didn’t improve enough compared to the rest of the people simple :d

This is the biggest lie posted on these forums. ELO is not a design for team play. You cannot base my skill off of the performance of five other players on my teams.

A true ELO score can only be based off of a 1 on 1 comparison. Not 1 verses 5 others.

The ranking system is very flawed. It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that.

OP has been around the same sr range for 8 seasons

it means that he doesn’t deserve to be any higher because he doesn’t improve at all. if you play for 100 games and you win only half of them then your sr is pretty accurate representation of your skill level.

I would be inclined to agree with you if the system were not corrupted. Again, as I previously posted, the amount of smurf accounts on console is pretty much immeasurable due to the unlimited number that can be created. There is no way that the SR system can be considered valid.

ELO was designed for chess. There’s a big reason why other games are not using such a measure in grading one’s skill level.

i have no idea what they go through, i’m speaking from the pc side and i’m also assuming that OP plays on pc. whatever i say about elo is on the pc side

You pretty much summed it up in your second paragraph that you have no idea what they go through. I’m just explaining the problems with the ELO ranking system on console that are way worse than that of a PC OverWatch player.

console sr is flawed? none of my concern, its blizzards problem for fixing it but pc? its pretty accurate

I’m a long-time PC Gamer and console gamer. I switch between both platforms. Both are different in their ways but both are relatively fun and flawed in their individual ways.

Yes, the amount of smurf accounts on console make playing competitive a bigger challenge. With profiles now locked by default, you can’t see what you’re truly getting when you form groups randomly through the LFG system.

Yeah. I mean I complain about an iffy connection sometimes but at least my experience is fine. Is Pharmercy really that broken on console? I’ve heard stories.

so you play overwatch on pc as well or not?

if you do then you cannot use excuses like “smurfs are holding be back! i deserve diamond!” because on pc your skill level is accurate

The whole idea of LFG was to make it less random. Public profile or kick, and problem solved.
