I feel like any armored tank ends up actually feeling WAY squishier than before the patch. Tanks weirdly feel less lethal to play and die quicker. The out of combat healing is nice but entirely superfluous because if you play out of combat long enough for it to matter you’re usually doing something wrong.
The DPS passive still MASSIVELY outweighs the tank buffs. The boop resistance is meh for everyone except reinhardt. Counterwatch is alive and well, and bonus, Ball still really sucks despite their continued attempts to buff him because he’s countered by so many people so easily.
Sorry. But this just isn’t doing it. Tank is still miserable.
I don’t think there exists a way to truly solve Tank in 5v5, Counterwatch is just part of the deal, but at least before the DPS passive there could still be some enjoyment. They’re never going to go back on either though so the game is screwed, Tank population is just going to keep on plummeting.
It’s weird that knockbacks do next nothing to tanks, but they have no resistance against any other kind of crowd control. Getting hindered, anti’d, hacked, stunned, slept, frozen, and pulled are all devastating, but hey, Brigitte can only push you back one foot now.
All do the same damage, armor reduces beams by 30%. Mei actually does more, since her alternate fire is WAY more effective.
Does more damage on her railgun, this makes it about equivalent.
Really? Because widow’s SMG is such a huge chunk of her damage to tanks
So we’ve got a solid Tracer, Sombra, Reaper here. Weaver is horrible at the moment so it kind of doesn’t matter. Everything else does equal or MORE damage.
Do you want to know which tanks do more damage?
Rein and Sigma. That’s it. The other 9 do less (Zarya and Winston being unaffected).
There are more tanks who deal less damage from this change than the entire rest of the roster combined.
Some of those characters still have burst damage embedded in their kits. Sombra has hack/virus, Tracer has pulse bomb, Sojourn has right clicks and her AoE damage, Widow has her fully charged sniper shots, Symmetra has damage orbs, Moira has damage orbs (and 60 DPS), Mei has her icicles, Bastion still has his primary fire and grenade, Torb still has his primary fire… these are all things to consider when playing against armored tanks.

Reaper wasn’t the problem.
They took the ability to tank bust from the weakest character in the game and put it in the hands of the strongest heroes in the game. Now, instead of swinging three times to kill the Reaper who’s locked into a fight with you because of how his healing works, you have to deal with tank busting Widowmaker, Hanzo, Ashe, and Cree who are a mile out of reach.
I played a bunch of games as Winston and Rein and I barely feel a difference. Only places I feel small difference is in how Tracers and Reapers shred my armor slower and thus won’t scuff up my staging as badly as they used to if they happen discover me.
Maybe it was intentional but I certainly cannot assert my presence in the battlefield more and one mistake of getting slept or stunned still leads me to spontaneously combust. Essentially the gameplay feels more or less the game apart from some edge cases.
… you realize that 9/12 tanks got nerfed in damage from this, right? That’s literally 3/4 of the roster. And you’re saying “Oh, it’s only the ones people don’t like.”
Back in OW1 days, I remember when the forums were playing Whack-A-Mole with tanks, where any time a tank would meta, it was instantly, “_____ IS SO TOXIC!!!” all day long. It was hilarious and sad to watch.
