It’s not anyone’s fault that the devs couldn’t come up with a way to give him more utility.
Them giving him 225 health was just an unbalanced equilibrium. And I say the same thing for bastion and mei but it’s especially to Mcree since he’s already a dependable burst damage hitscan
He defeinitely needed a nerf but they definitely sledgehammered him. Both nerfs are huge. I would not be surprised if he’s basically F tier for a while.
If bastion didnt have 300hp he’d die everytime he poked his head out.
Mei needs 250 health because shes a close range hero with no movement abilities outside of being able to access high ground on a long cooldown
not a chance. he’s primarily good rn because of his insane primary fire dmg which hasn’t been touched at all. he prob went from SSS tier to A tier.
The range nerf should help him still. If he keeps dying a lot more, I’d be completely fine if they want to tighten his hitbox a bit.
It was needed, and surprising, they left sojourn in a similar state forever.
225 shouldn’t even be a thing on any hero TBH. It just results in awkward breakpoints at times IMO and is more of a handy cap if anything.
He was deifnitely not SSS tier. He was certainly one of the better DPS, but these are massive nerfs. Like both of them individually are going to make a huge impact. F tier is an exaggeration, but he will definitely be a bottom tier DPS.
as long as he keeps his primary fire dmg and fire rate a good player will have no difficulty to continue 2 tapping enemies. and his nade will continue to do what it was meant to do: bait out fade, recall, wraith, mei crystal, etc.
I’m in diamond for support and DPS and at any given time I’d say he was mirror picked about 90% of the time in my matches.
200HP changes many breakpoints and makes him far more divable in a game that has lots of dive. Reducing the mag grenade damage also means he will secure far fewer kills on the people who do dive him, since he now has to land two shots.
it’s true that tracer will now have the edge in a fight against him but mccree shouldn’t have had the power to solo dive so damn easily anyway. many players are gonna play him with a pocket which wont change much. i agree he isn’t SSS tier anymore but my boy is gonna be A tier at least no doubt. a hero with his dmg output and fire rate shouldn’t have that kinda health. season 3 cree was deleting players as quickly as tracer and was able to do so with 75 more hp than her and at a safe distance.
Not when his hitbox is that huge. This opens Cassidy up for an ult rework in the future tho.
feels good being low elo. high noon still gonna cook down here.
Tracer already has an advantage over him.
He also does not at all have, and never has had, the power to “solo dive.” 25HP may change breakpoints but it doesn’t make him an invulnerable 1v5 diver. If you got “solo dived” by a McCree you were likely really out of position and it’s your own fault for letting him close the distance on you like that. He has very low mobility and his mag grenade is really not that low range.
But I guarantee you he will not be A tier. Not even close.
Low elo players when they have garbage positioning can’t LOS a Dead Eye or land any form of CC.
i meant solo dive as in kill a diver on his own without any trouble not that he was the one doing the diving on his own. sorry i was kinda using anime terminology
for ex could ichigo solo all of the espada?
i miss OW1 volskaya. if u played mccree on attack at any rank between bronze to gold all you had to do was high noon on the floating platform by point B for a free team kill.
His kit is supposed to be a strong 1v1’ing kit, so it makes sense that he’d be able to win engagements versus people who tried to 1v1 him. However most dive that has mobility actually still has an upper hand on him because mag grenade is very weak against most of them. Mag grenade’s strong point was versus people he chose engagements with, such as if he got close to a support of another non-dive DPS.
Mag grenade was frustrating because it has a significant amount of power in an attempt to be a deterrent for flankers/dive, but ironically it’s also who it was weakest against. But anything with a lot of value against high mobility is even stronger against those without it. However changing the breakpoint against those heroes also means he is far less likely to secure kills with it.
So now his lower HP changes his own breakpoints and makes him much weaker vs those who dive him. And the meg grenade changes breakpoints against all other enemies, making him far less likely to be able to secure an important kill for out of position enemies.
Honestly I wish they’d just rework meg grenade. It isn’t fun for anyone. People hate being stuck by it, and as a McCree player it’s so much worse than flashbang. It’s so buggy and has so much less utility in exchange for some high burst.
i agree i preferred flash by a lot but flash was way stronger and would piss ppl off way more. idk how’d i rework his anti-dive ability myself (then again im no dev).
cree felt like a jack of all trades and master of all with how much dmg he did from a far and how much dmg his nade let him do close up. he seems more balanced now that he specializes in mid range combat and is no longer equally good at close range combat. worst case scenario he’ll be B tier (certainly wont be the case in silver-gold where i’ll continue to feast) at high ranks but def not weak.
edit: dont forget high elo cree mains have a mercy stick up their bum 24/7
