This matchmaking has to be THE WORST in gaming history

That sounds similar to my comp games

Because quality of players is dropping. Game ends up having newbies, pros with smurf accounts and nobody inbetween.

Yep. I tried my best in damage role, in every match the previous two seasons to no avail, because the tanks where feeding (Rein players mostly just charged ahead, behind walls, into rooms etc and got one shot by the entire enemy team) or the support didn’t bother healing (Moira/Zen), or the Ana was pretending to be frontline dps who ended up getting rolled instantly…

The fanboys claim that it’s our fault, but it’s not. It’s the matchmaker’s fault for putting new players into silver/gold lobbies for the sake of faster queue times. Competitive should never be like that. It makes for an extremely poor experience even for new players, but most of all, for the people trying to climb, ending up with these new players in their lobbies. Players who have just finished their 50 QP wins, and still knows nothing about the game or how to play.

One of the worst aspects of comp is the fact that leavers ruin so many games as well, and the system just punish the team who had a tank or support leave the game. Most leavers wait until there’s like 1 minute left, before leaving, meaning you’ll get a loss no matter what you do, since the asinine requirement to avoid a loss is to wait for over a minute before you can leave without getting a loss.

They could easily fix this by just having the game automatically end the match when someone leaves in competitive…

It is also the most common copium in gaming. I have played numerous MP games over the years and the most common refrain is that it is all the matchmakers fault when losses happen. What is funny is I have come to realize those people are going to be hard stuck and not climb anymore.

i am reminded of that one guy who tested 500 matches and realized forced 50 isn’t a meme because the win streaks were followed by roughly equal lose streaks.

if it was true 50% you’d see more irregularity.

also i think it’s worsening because they are dropping players, so the matchmaker favors finding a match over finding a fair match

It’s not limited to Overwatch, however.

yes, and?
seriously, and?

But Overwatch has curious pattern of players leaving - mostly from middle.

Why? It’s the same ELO system that every game has for like 10+ years now.

To be fair, I’m constantly paired up with Supports who don’t heal, Tanks who don’t lead and Damage who can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

I’m not skilled enough as a Tank/Damage/Support to carry that level of incompetence. No matter what I do, I can’t win games even when leading on the scoreboard.

Man, it was so rare prior to Role-Queue, to have an actually bad game.

Worse still, it’s just further encouraging the tremendous toxicity in the game. And Blizzard’s lack of investing in real tutorials for players to learn from isn’t helping matters.

Anyone with more than 100 hours in the game should not be matched up with players less than 30 hours. Period.

There’s a vast gulf of ignorance here and it won’t help when you can’t educate the less skilled or ignorant players on how to play without being reported for toxic behavior.

The OW2 matchmaking is objectively worse for several reasons. Almost every quickplay match now is a onsided stomp, either winning or losing.
It is not possible to have good matchmaking when every queue is < 1 minute.

Yes, but there is a catch. If you lose players mostly from middle, ones, that allow to blur streaks, win and loss streaks become more distinct.

I got sick of this on support so played tank. Hard carried 2 deadweight new players in comp. Had to 1v5 in overtime and still won somehow… lol

I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll keep saying it. Until the devs solo queue all modes, as all roles, they will never actually balance the game. They’re currently going the Sea of Thieves route, all in on story content except it’s paid. Refusal to fix fundamental flaws with the CORE game just delays the inevitable.

I wish I still could enjoy Sea of Thieves, but you simply can’t - every session will have at least 1 crew of ā€œtrue piratesā€ that will sink your ship, while you are trying to play story. Even if you got no valuable cargo on board to steal, just because they can.

And yet they refuse to allow private sessions, so you can explore lore in peace.

Take a game mode where you can group with whoever you like, there are no SR restrictions, nobody is on the same page or has the same objectives…and remove all sbmm from the equation

What do you get?

The question isn’t why is the mm bad….the question is why are people surprised it’s bad

It’s……not….fixable

Youre basically complaining that the sky is blue….some things are what they are….

If it bothers you that much…then go play comp (hint it isn’t much better) or don’t play…but the devs aren’t going to fix it because it is and always will be a feature of the game

To be fair, the matchmaker is horrendous.

Cope hiddenwaffle matchmaking sucks and we know it or else there wouldnt be matchmaker complaints. There is plenty of proof of low ranked players being in gm and master games. All your posts are coping for blizzard

Those are actually coming here soon, The kind of blank blocking rooms that kind of look like a BOTW shrine rooms, that keep popping up in trailers. Were the heroes are messing with training bots in different ways.

Their a mid season thing.
