This would be the same if you made a cinematic on characters who dont matter in the lore. Keep it with overwatch/blackwatch/talon. Dont make a pharah cinematic. Dont make a zenyatta cinematic. Dont make tertiary character cinematics…stick to the core narration.

Ill tell you what i dont have fun doing. Waiting almost a year for a cinematic that got us nowhere in the present timeline nor showed anything useful about her backstory.

That’s great and valid but do you really think that means the next logical thought is that no other character, besides ones we’ve already gotten a lot of lore for already, deserves a chance to shine? It’s very reactionary, haha. Like you can just not like the cinematic and… move on. Not like Blizzard is gonna see this and go, “Damn, Jvilla225 is right, we’re dropping half the cast from future lore content.”

Zenyatta is a lot more important than D.Va to the core story. He’s related to Mondatta (who’s directly responsible for much of what’s going on in the story), and reformed Genji into what he is today.
D.Va just does D.Va stuff.

This isn’t really feedback. It’s just whining. “Overwatch made one subpar cinematic, therefore there’s no way they could ever flesh out other characters in future cinematics.” It’s such a volatile reactionary thought process, silly is all.

See but a cinematic like this is a chance to make the tertiary character not tertiary, and be part of the story.
Besides, so what if it’s a bit light on story? I enjoy seeing anything outside of the context of the game

Besides the Genji thing the mondatta part doesnt matter as much. Mondatta died. If zenyatta isnt gonna be the next Mondatta all he did was help genji accept himself. Even that doesnt have enough content for a cinematic.

Problem, I knew all this about Dva long before this short was released.
Other then whoever her friend is.
Everything else we already knew. Waiting this long has gotten us to theorize, and I was looking for some cool twists. But nope. It was kind of cliched.
We didn’t learn anything about Overwatch, or what it’s doing, heck we didn’t even see recall.
We don’t even know what Dva thinks of Overwatch. Was hoping we would at least see that. Maybe if it was longer hey could have done more🤔
So I’m waiting for Blizzcon and hoping they have something good on the way, something big👌
Other then that, it was a good short, just left us with nothing to go on and just waiting for more.

I don’t agree with that but the point of an animated short is to add to the lore so you can make one for any hero.
Opinions are delusional now I guess.
And hey I’m not trying to say the cinematic was some epic either, it’s just silly to look at one (1) cinematic that was meh in terms of writing but still visually awesome and definitely the type of thing a subset of people are content with, and to think Blizzard is irredeemably terrible at making these, all hope is lost, no way they could make any good stories out of any of the other heroes.
Thats not true. Dva was given her chance to “shine” and she still in the same spot. You can only recycle the same storyline over and over. As someone said in another thread this seems like a rehashed rein cinematic. Rein trying to do everything solo and putting the burden on himself. Same with dva.
