…it shouldn’t end here.
we got a price reductionon legendaries and farmable legacy coins. This is GREAT and i don’t wanna downplay it.
at the same time this should’ve been the base state of the game and there are still some critical things missing, such as premium coins in the battlepass and heroes still being paid for, which should be removed entirely and there’s no “but” that justifies it.
tho, the fact they lowered the prices and reintroduced legacy coins makes me think the game isn’t doing so well financially
i just started playing paladins (kinda fun and silly)…the games are very simliar. They too, have heroes that you have to pay to unlock right away or have to farm quite a bit to play them later on. This isn’t antyhing new and honsetly, makes no business sense to NOT do if you want to sell the battle pass.
the “no but” extends to “other games are doing it”.
and paladins has a “unlock all heroes” single purchease that lasts forever. I bought it back when it was 20 bucks and i still get all heroes day1
What wasn’t normal 5 months ago and that stretched all the way back to over 2 years ago is the level of communication that we have had with the developers and community managers. They are actively striving to work with and for the player base and I 100% believe that we will eventually reach a point where the monetization is as close to perfection as it can be without taking away from the fact that the developers need MONEY to function. They are trying different things and unfortunately those things haven’t been met with much positivity. Completely warranted though of course.
well, yes, ow1 system was ironically almost perfect despite being rng.
but ow2 is sorely lackin on wins and i’ve criticized it plenty enough already. I’m just w9ndering how bad the game is doing if they are already lowering prices
it’s blizzard.
they say “we’ll communicate more”, do so for like a month, then complete radio silence until the next “we’ll communicate more”
Really? We got 3 dev blogs in ONE WEEK! That has never happened before. Developers are speaking directly with content creators and answering to people on Twitter all the time. Just yesterday bot Commercial Lead & VP Jon Spector and Executive Producer Jared Neuss spoke on SVB’s “Group Up! Podcast” and spoke about monetization.
which is… what they do whenever something big comes up.
i’ve been following this company for years, i know them, don’t be hasty with your excitement because they’ve thrown you a bone
I really hate this community. They are radio silent for 2 entire years with minimal patches, we go live with Overwatch 2 and we have more communication with the developers than we have ever had and the things that are addressed aren’t good enough for you.
We have a post for known issues that is constantly being updated
Updates to the new Defense Matrix Initiative which has been extremely helpful in stopping toxic behavior, cheating, and gameplay sabotage like throwing and smurfing
Multiple developer updates from Aaron Keller outlining plans for the upcoming seasons
Multiple blogs addressing changes with the new matchmaking system and what they are doing to improve it which has been an extremely controversial topic
To act as if they haven’t changed whatsoever is such a high level of entitlement it’s disgusting.
hey it’s blizzard, them admitting anything they did was wrong is about as common as a two headed snake.
but i unironically wonder how they looked at the idea of pretending to lower the rank every season and thought it was good. Feels like the idea some out of touch idiot who only cares about “fake rewards to make people addicted to the grind” without any consideration as to where they should adopt that philosophy
Yeah. I’m entitled and Blizzard are saints.
Call me again when they finally bring back Overwatch online. Then we can talk about the future. Otherwise, I really don’t see the point.
because we know blizzard, this has been their mo for years.
when the first beta dropp3d they were conversing a lot… then radio silence. they do this EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
2 different community made experimental patches that were met with a lot of praise
Developer live streams outlining plans for both betas and launch
-Multiple balance patches during both betas that were designed with player feedback
Constantly updated forum post addressing known issues
Consistent developer updates and blog posts outlining plans for balance and upcoming seasons
Consistent sets of Twitch drops
Defense Matrix Initiative which has been extremely effective and we just got an update TODAY about how they are improving it further
Multiple livestreams and podcasts of developers speaking directly to the community
To act as if we have gotten literally nothing over the last year except the betas and 3 months of minimal communication is ridiculous. Sure, they could stop at a drop of a hat, but from what I’ve seen from the developers during the past year, it doesn’t seem that way. We haven’t had just some official statement from Blizzard with corporate bs. We’ve had clear communication and I don’t have any reason to believe that it’s going to end.
You say this as if this past year has been the exact same as the previous 6. It’s clearly a very different tone.
