The tanks are raid bosses, so much power in one role. Get to have all the CC in the world from doom punch, Orisa javelin, Sigma rock, but yet complain about CC lmao. Now i’m not gonna saying tanking isn’t hard because of the mirror matchup and dealing with broken support utility/ sustain, but the role is no way weak. Whoever has the better tank wins 90% of games. Lets face it most supports have no mechanics, to make as much impact of a tank in ranks below gm.
In 6v6 it was just as bad with the broken tank synergy of Zarya bubble, Winston diving you with defense matrix, double shield.
The game has always, will always be a tank diff.

The only tank I can say is definitely broken is Doomfist. He has big damage, two-shot combos like Roadhog was nerfed for, mass mobility, mass damage absorption, AoE CC, AoE damage, can cancel channeling ults, generates additional health, AND his ult is a get-out-of-fail-free card. The closest thing he has to a counter is a 1 second disable from Sombra, and maybe Sleep Dart, but Doom’s mobility and health generation make them moot without an immediate, concentrated response from the entire rest of your team…
Compared to that, just about every other tank is too reliant on their team. Barriers and Fortify can be dealt with with spam, DM/Absorb can be dealt with, with beam; Even Hammond’s mobility has more counterplay in the form of ice walls, Hinder, traps, and Symm turrets. Doom leaps over all of it with the click of a button, and he has two options to do it. Three, including Q.

Honestly god no. Tanks at this point don’t have that much carry potential. I have plenty more carry potential on dps and support. A lot of ‘tank diffs’ come from deficiencies elsewhere.

For once, I say this unironically: isn’t this what people wanted? One tank means that one tanks has to be overvalued, or the game would just be poorly designed. If that tank wasn’t the strongest piece on the board, what would be the point of the tank being there at all?
Its fine to say “the game is balanced around the tanks being the most important” since that comes with upsides and downsides to the role. Its balanced by having its upside be its downside: its the most important role on the field.
Of course, it’ll never feel good if you lose due to your tank being bad, but people literally asked for this.

I don’t think anyone is saying they’re weak, I think they’re saying it’s very unfun because of the nature of being the only tank, and needing to be countered as hard as they are - even within their own role.

Look I think other heroes should have an influence on the Frontline fight but if I’m being honest: currently the other roles literally decide any tank battle. Ram mirror: oh mines losing? Let me Anti, sleep, discord them while using suzu and lamp on mine even though they got outplayed. Their hammond is getting more value? Let me go brig and hard counter him. My rein is losing? Sym mei bastion
This goes on and on. It doesn’t matter if I’m destroying the other tank if they have an ana and I have mercy Moira they will win the Frontline fight because of anti and sleep. Or I’m destroying on ramatra? discord forces you to play like a coward

Tanks are close to balanced. JQ made the game unplayable twice, Zarya meta made the game unplayable with her bubble uptime.
Anything is better than GOATS/ double shield, those two metas above were pretty much GOATS though with all the sustain the tank had.
When your tank isn’t getting hard diffed the game is really fun

Dooms insane right now, people are getting good at him and outshining other tanks.
Last season nobody knew how to play him and he was a throw pick because of how broken JQ was.
Yeah, as the spearhead of a team, it can be very difficult to play on a team where the tank absolutely refuses to push in.

I started a Winton one trick account, and I have no idea how tf those psychopaths play him when Zen and Ana exist.
