This game needs revival

6v6 patch, reverting hp and hitboxes, rewarding higher ranked players again and not making everyone equal in pvp game lol.

Without some shocking update like this its dead, blizzard murdered the game with S9 patch. This is not ow anymore.

Maybe its a hot take here in the forums but: 6v6 and the revert of the S9 changes would let the game die after around 2 seasons, because we would face more problems than we had before.

But I agree with a big shake up of the game.

Atleast big shake up, i endured 5v5 change but i just cant play with these hitboxes, for me its unacceptable, they were already huge and bothering me for 7 years how big they are and THEY EVEN INCREASE THEM.

Its messed up, its dating bots free roam simulator now and it used to fast paced rewarding pvp comp game, where higher ranks got properly rewarded and not everyone was equal by force.

I fully agree. 6vs6 was better. I miss the good old days where tanks did their job and also protected flanks. In 5vs5 I practically never see the tank being there when a flanker uses an ult.

Season 9 was the big shake up to revitalize the game. It popped population for a few weeks.

At this point, I don’t think changing game systems is going to bring Overwatch back to prominence. It will require a major overhaul of content output and quality, not to mention consumer friendly monetization changes.

There’s less of a chance of these happening than 6v6 returning.

It’s not the tank’s job anymore.
There was a tank there in ow1 because there were two of them the entire team could slot between the tanks as one was in the front line and the other at the back.
There’s only one tank now so they belong in the frontline.

It’s now the dps’ job to peel for supports by killing flankers, the tank has no time or capability.

I don’t know where you’re conjuring up your numbers, but the Steam playercount alone (27k 30 day average) proves this game is neither dead nor dying.

And that’s why I liked the 6vs6 more  It’s clear that 1 tank can’t do everything.

But it was failure, everyone i know left after s9 patch, from full stack playing every night, i ended alone.

I wish s9 never happened, the core ow was never meant to be changed.

I despise the season 9 changes. They should walk back the bullet changes even if nothing else.

That’s why it’s the dps’ job now.

Dps’ jobs in ow1(all of these and following ones are simplified)
Get kills, play on objective

Tank jobs in ow1
Peel, defend, get kills, play on objective

Dps jobs in ow2
Peel, get kills, objective

Tank jobs in ow2
Defend, get kills, play on objective at times.

It infuriates me how much value can bad players get nowadays. It is not only about hitbox changes but making the game easier in other ways.

Like the Hog rework and buffs before removed any positioning and cooldown management required since he can drink heals every 1.25 seconds and hook has a laughable 6 seconds cooldown.

Or they released Kiriko who has a common ability stronger than many ultimates, 7 seconds free escape and advantage vs most DPS as a support.

How to literally kill the game within less than 6 months

Sure this kind of game changing patch might have a bunch of players try the game because ā€œomg 6v6 backā€, but the issue is how few people would stay with the game more than a month or two as old 6v6 issues came back around again

Queue times for DPS/Support would be horrendous within a month or two, oppressive tank synergies would form, and games with two tanks not synergizing together would feel terrible to play. It would be doomed which is exactly why 6v6 had to go in the first place

Kiriko’s knives are also a fail design. They should have a ballistic trajectory.

Thats the issue i have too, bad players couldnt do much before, why would they in pvp comp game?

It all changed, ow became most casual
pvp game possible. You do same damage if you missing enemy head by 20cm compared to tracking his forehead perfectly.

The issue I have is people acting like corporations should forfeit tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, lose a large fraction of it’s total players, just to make less than 1% of the players marginally happier, only for them to also then complain about a lack of players.

And this is all based on a lack of understanding of basic grade school level Algebra in regards to 6v6 RQ ever coming back.

Along with hyping up overlapping temporary placebo effects on a patch that wasn’t even that good in October 2020.

Heck, feel free to point out any other modern FPS that doesn’t have movement acceleration, but has pixel accurate hitboxes. They don’t exist. For good reason.

6v6 - yes
hitboxes doesn’t matter. The game had even bigger hitboxes at launch and it was the time when it was best.

Agree besides 6v6…

season 9 killed the game and 25% headshot reduction on tanks

They just took away the skill ceiling of movement, trash change. The hp changes nerfed burst damage as well giving you way less solo carry potential, boring as hell

All they needed to do was make Kiriko’s hitbox bigger so she’s easier to hit

I think they tried to with the S9 changes. It failed. Game is in its worst state.
