This game is no longer viable for casual play

There is not a single “serious” gamemode in this game where you can go to have a chill time, while still enjoying the game itself.
QP is a tryhard sweatfest. If you do not play 100% focussed to the limit of your skills, you cannot win a game. Even MH is stressful.

Please don’t give me the bollocks of just have fun and don’t care if you win. The only purpose of this game is to win. If your idea of fun is to shoot at moving targets, you can stay in the practice range.

Each time I fire up a game, I go in thinking to myself that I just want to relax and have fun. That’s all out the window after the first team fight. :frowning:
For me all games, win or lose, end with me being stressed.

I guess I should just quit this game, but the thing is that it didn’t use to be like this.
In OW1 it was all pure fun…Win or lose; I ended the game smiling. This is not nostalgia, but fact.
Even the best games in OW2 end with a stressed feeling, which dominates the feeling of enjoyment.

I wonder what caused this extreme difference. 5V5, balance, MM,…?

Maybe take a break, play or do something else? Sounds like you’re pretty burnt on this game.

I agree.

It also seems like you have changed.

You want to win but you don’t want to work for it. Tryharding in QP has always been a thing. It’s probably just more punishing in 5v5 though. Playing with friends makes the game way more fun too.

This isn’t because people try hard all of a sudden. It’s because your mentality has changed along with the game changing. If you got absolutely stomped by tryhards, would it really matter if it was 5v5 or 6v6?

I agree also… take a break man. This game isn’t worth the stress. If you feel like you still want to play OW queue with friends because it makes it more bearable. Otherwise play a single player game for a bit there are a lot of great ones that released this year more worth your time then OW.

Dude goes into a core competitive game and acts like this is some PvE single player… I can not comprehend. Like, the fun in competitive games is not that cheap and you have to fight for it. Otherwise the game plays you and enemies plays you. Wanna get fun - compete for your fun then! For the worse case scenario have multiple alt accounts to not try that hard on your main. Having GM skill I can’t play on my main just 3 days a month as main job is overwhelming, therefore I have gasilion diamond and below accounts where I can chill and it still be challenging enough as I become washed up if I don’t grind 5-8 hours a day.

As someone who has been casually playing this game for 7 years now…it’s very doable

Like what exactly does this look like to you if it isn’t something like QP or MH

How does one try to win without being a tryhard in your mind?

See, that’s where you’re wrong. Quick play is filled with selfish players who don’t care how hard they throw, long as they get to do it on the character they like. It’s the opposite of sweaty.

Telling them to help or switch is toxic. In fact, everything is toxic to them.

And now we have leaver penalties, people getting silenced and suspended all over the place.

This is the fantastic playspace they’ve created. Aren’t you enjoying it?

True that it is more fun to win than not. But fun can also be playing favorite game mode!
Sometimes I find OQ more relaxing just for it feels more relaxing and chaotic. Favorite team comp is when I solo support with 4 dps…
RQ is more stressful even FFA when I play Brigg!

Well yes the purpose of OW is to win the match, like any other game where there’s a winner and a loser, but the thing is, it’s not about the end, it’s about the journey.

Once I was playing capture the point, and we got the point 100% of the time the first round, at start of second round enemy tank ragequits, and a Doom with a high title enters, they kicked our b*tts and we lost the second and third match, it was really a fun and important experience, there will be people that are better than you, that Doom was like x10 better than the ragequit tank, and they won. I had a really good time and it is one of my favorite matches, ever.

I’m inclined to agree with the sentiment that QP has become a sweatfest since the new season began. Almost every game has a Sombra spawn-killing, a Bastion with a Mercy pocket, Bap for that immortality field, and a D.Va diving the backline constantly.

It would be nice to be able to just enjoy the game, maybe have some close rounds, but it’s just borderline impossible most of the time.

custom game: Am I a joke to you

also it always has been this sweaty since ow1 competitive mode came out

These two statements are mutually exclusive.

free to play will do that, battlepass/dailies as well, between the influx of poor quality players cuz of free to play and the matchmaking alone this game became insufferable. from qing ino push/flashpoint, then finally getting a decent mode in q then you get your doom 1TPs , healer who wont or cant heal, to dps that can’t hit the broad side of a barn. sad what this game became, overpriced skin sim, wish they would have taken this mobile version of the game and put it on phones where all the screen zombies could have it and left OW1 as it was without all this garbage.

The amount of people who joined a competitive (in the sense you were competing against people), heavily team weighted, PVP mode and were expecting a faff fest is a little surprising.

Would explain all the people over the years who didn’t seem to understand there was an objective though.

Some people just don’t realize they are the reason they are not having fun.

Because if you only have fun is when you win then you are not going to have a chill time. Because you are going to escalate and become a sweaty tryhard which naturally leads to those fighting you doing the same.

You have to choose which one is your priority. A chill match or a play to win match? Both can happen at the same time but you cannot make both your goal.

If that is what you believe, I suggest playing a single player competitive game where teammates cannot pull you under. Fighting games are good for that. Nobody to blame except for yourself… Or the controller. :skull:

Nah, I think you are the problem. It is a bad mindset to have. The game has little to do with it.

6v6 was slower, thats it. And we were younger;)

What i’d do if i were you…just play arcade’s modes like no limits, mysteries, or hit up custom to play lucio surf, and some parkour modes just to have fun. Mayhem is just too much.

I never take those seriously. Whenever im in mood for some game against sweaty, i just hit up QP/QPR or any 5v5s.

QP is just like CP now these days; the only difference being the leaver penalty is more severe in the latter. Besides, how can it truly be called competitive if it’s possible to encounter players far above your rank and private groups with better coordination? This game is going downhill for multiple reasons but once you start ruining the gameplay &#%!@? goes terrible real fast.

Causal and having only winning on your mind are two things opposite from each other
