I need to stop playing, it’s literally not even fun, it’s like every element of the gameplay is designed to be infuriating, how do I stop playing this miserable game, help me quit

You just have to remind yourself that the next match is going to be just as bad as the previous ten matches. You’ll get a win streak where you have to do nothing pretty much to win, then it’ll be back to barely functional AI as your teammates.
Events are pointless, skins cost 26 dollars. Unless you’re playing to watch those little “progression” numbers tick up, what is the draw anymore?
Then every once in a while, you load up the game just to see it’s as bad as you remember and you close it back down.

There are more games to play now than ever before. There are so many things you can do with your time other than playing a game that isn’t fun.

Go play big single player games. BG3, Starfield, Zelda etc. You finish your play session feeling pretty good. BG3 is so much more addicting to me than Overwatch atm.
To extend your playtime, avoid looking up any guides or tips or tricks. Figure out the games for yourself like the good ol days. You can replay them again and again and find new things you missed on the first playthrough.
Otherwise I heard Paladins is actually pretty good now if you get into it.

OW2 has never been so terrible. Each season, these devs manage to destroy the game even more. The matchmaker is worse than ever. The game is an unbalanced mess, full of cheaters and toxic AF.
There’s no salvation for this game. Not even a change in leadership (if Microsoft takes over ActiBlizz) will save this trainwreck.

Microsoft is just gonna see the money it’s pulling in and say, “Keep doing what you’re doing.” The only way Microsoft’s buying of ABK helps Overwatch is if someone in charge is a huge fan of Overwatch 1 and is just as disappointed by this tragic sequel as we are.
Otherwise, it’s game over, man.

I actually believe that. Some fellow forumers think MS will somehow save this game, but as a corporation, they only care about money and this game looks like a financial success in its current state.
It doesn’t need to be popular or loved by the masses, it just needs the right amount of whales and game addicts to make the cash flow. You know, the “core players” that apparently love every aspect of the game, according to the game director.

well they intentionally use addictive psychology to keep you around, just have to find something that gives you a bigger hit of dopamine and remove yourself from any reminder that this game exist, and soon you would have moved on

This game is just running off the nostalgia many of us have for the original Overwatch. I’d give it maybe another year before even that runs out and there’s truly no one left except Mercy one-tricks.

Try other games. There are plenty of games out there ranging from free to 60 dollars that blow this game out of the water - including indie titles. And I know there’s no game like overwatch, but I look at it like this: Overwatch is unique…it’s a special kind of bad unseen in most other games lol.
