This game is great

I reached a point where I realized this game really a master piece. Despite all the things people say about it. Its a good, high quality game.
Playerbase can be frustrating at times but that’s ok,everyone has a bad day from time to time.

All frustrations are gone, and I’m only able to enjoy the game. Nothing more. It takes a lot of effort to frustrate me anymore.

It’s an awesome game. Most people that have complaints either have a different vision for the game or are bitter because they cant climb the ladder and need something to blame for it. Just admit your trash guys :man_shrugging: I did and now I get to have all the fun in the world.

Not needed to be so harsh about themselves but they just need to lower the expectations of the end result of the match.
Play for fun,do your best and if things go against you, relax ,it happens.
Most importantly, dont sweat when you play. I know it might get you that extra SR,but is it worth it ? What happens when you try so so hard and still lose? You will feel miserable and will affect your future matches and that extra st you won might go negative.Play at a moderate level and if you lose a match you wont feel that miserable at all.

Any game one thinks is amazing, one hasn’t played enough to find its endless flaws.

For me, an online game that focuses everything on online interaction, needs to put a lot of work into making the online component work. Doesn’t matter if you have a shiny product, when the core of the game is poorly executed.

In Overwatch, both QP and Competitive is a mess and have been for over 2 years now, without any changes. All we’ve gotten is a looking for group tool, while other important things - like a clan setup - is nowhere to be found. I might have enjoyed the game a whole lot more, if I’ve had the chance of being in a clan/guild with like minded people. That’s how I enjoy MMOs these days, because the less you have to do with random strangers in an online game these days, the better.

I played since the beta . Almost every day. Been through 3 ranks. Plat diamond and masters.

A very rare exception then. Pretty lucky to be one if you ask me :man_shrugging:

You’re right. Overwatch is a fantastic game. It’s the reason I have kept playing since release. Not many games have done that for me (Only ark and warframe). The only problem that stops this from looking like a better game is the community. A large proportion of the community are whiners, and they get their way because of this. Lots of toxicity, bullying and negativity causes friction between players. There’s no cohesion. Playing with strangers, especially in comp is a complete gamble, you might get nice people, you might get cooperative people, or you can get toxic, aggressive people. Some sort of guild/clan feature should be implemented to allow people to make friends, and find more positive, and supportive teammates. Right now, the majority of the community ruins this game.

I know ,right. The community is problematic. But as Jack Sparrow said : “The problem is not the problem. The problem is your attitude towards the problem”.
Its essential to treat any negative situations like those with a positive mindset. Sounds hard ,it is hard but do able.
Lately for me ,somehow the matches have been EXTREMELY good. Nice people, got to play what I wanted ( even though I mostly heal as Ana ). Had a big win streak too.

I dont know ,but it’s like magic. The more positive you are towards the game, the more positive outcomes you have.

I was a ,quite toxic player back in the day. Trying so hard ,and losing only to blame my team.
I was a disaster. But no longer. I one day realized is a nice game and it can be enjoyed to the max if I change my attitude towards it and its playerbase.

Before: we have 3x dps , switch you noob throwers. "GG "in the general chat.
Now : let them play. If they play their best we can win! Sometimes if the 3rd dps hears your positive ,friendly attitude towards them they might do very well in their dps role or even switch later in the match. It’s just very important for them to know somebody has their back. Maybe they played tank for the last 5 matches and didn’t really had a great experience. It happens ,they got burnt out, they are frustrated.

My problem with overwatch is summarised in 2 categories.

  • It could be so much more. One must be blind not to see that the dev team is tiny and the game is running at minimum cost for the past 2 years.

  • Overwatch, which I love, has showcased how much love and respect for the end product (and the players) can go in a game (quick example, the animations, the texture work, the audio etc) but at the same time used some disgusting practices which I am ashamed to have funded by my purchase of the game. Automated bans? No in game mods? Lootboxes? Straight up. Shame on you.

As for the community. To be frank it seems like a celebration of mass idiocy, judging from the forum, the reddits and sadly many people in game. All the constant whining, all the memes doing their thinking instead of them. Competitive is a joke, mmr is broken, OW is SOOOO unbalanced, like really dudes? Have you ever played any other competitive game EVER?

Well ,you know ,usually the worse is highlighted. Everywhere. On the TV you dont see the good things happening in the world, you only see the bad things ,the horrors.
It’s the same here. The negativity is on the surface because the players that enjoy the game dont feel the need to share their enjoyment.

Just think of it like that. The negative surface is shallow and it only covers the actual experiences. If you look closely you will see how it actually is.

Yh I know about the small dog barking, I think it’s called the napoleonic fallacy or something like that. I thought it was it at the beginning, but in my opinion and in my experience it’s not contained to the various fora. It’s in game too. I mean, just pick symmetra, sombra, (even junkrat who has a great WR% in these ranks) in gold, hell even in silver and there’s no chance in hell you won’t get complaints 8/10 games.

And that’s in those ranks.

Well, that is true to some extend. Its unfortunate that player have this mindset that this hero is really useless. I ve played symmetra in different matches ,and the outcome was really good.

Not sure of it but I think the visible stats , metas ,pro player influences have affected people self judgement.

In any case, I was glad to see your topic, because memes aside, OW is one of the best games ever released imo.

Cheers

Sure thing it is! It’s my favorite game of all times.

there are a lot of young adults (20-30) who play OW for over 1000 hours and they become so sensitive forgetting that playing for that long a single game is quit rare.
Any game that keeps you playing it more then 500 hours is special.

Sure it is special for me ,got around 1.5k hours on it I think.

I agree that graphics and character desings are good, but nothing else is

Balance is a joke in this game, heroes get nerfed because of OWL, there are no new modes, some maps (like Junkertown) are poorly made and seem to heavily support the attacking team, we get only 7 event skins instead of 8 (and 3 of those are epic skins, which look awful)
