This game has too many characters

What it really needs is less characters, not more. The characters are starting to feel less and less varied and they all seem less individually powerful than they used to. Orisa is just a slightly change Rein, Moira’s abilities are just copies of other characters, and Sombra is a less useful Tracer.

this game is so many characters but only a few of them are good like doomfist moira tracer mccree genji mei and reaper
blizzwrd said at one point they were going to delete characters like rein and lucuion because they were so strong but now they are not so strong any more and insetad other characters are so strong so they dont have to delelte them now anymore
maybe some day charatcer like doomfist trracer mccree egeniji doomsfist repaer mei and maroi will be less srtrong and they will not have to delete them becquser they wont be as so strtong anymore but still strong enough to be play sometimes like rein hard and lucios

Overwatch compared to each of them separately(not combined), Those games have a lot more heroes than Overwatch does.

the point of having say, 2 shield heroes, is so that if you don’t like the gameplay of one, you play the other, while still fufilling the core purpose of the role, which in turn makes the game more varied

Yeah! Lets just have 6 heroes and 1 map. I’m sure everyone will enjoy this for a long time and it will in no way get stale really quick.

I must disagree, in order for a game to last long it must continuously add more content, this means: characters, maps, cosmetics, etc., or it will start to feel stale.

One point you raised up is the characters’ individuality, I think all characters have some unique qualities to them, it’s almost never possible to main one character and all of a sudden pick an entirely new character and know what to do as consistently as you did with your main. This is due to their vastly different kits.

Orisa plays very different from Reinhardt, I could never get the hang of Rein because his shield uptime and playstyle require a lot of mind games, while Orisa is more of a shoot behind shield sort of tank, you can still work behind the shield as Orisa, while with Rein if he’s holding his shield he’s not doing other things.

Yeah, do what DESTINY 2 did and just remove a bunch of content to balance the game out, that worked out fine for them right.

Nothing says that a character has to be groundbreaking. Orisa, Moira and Sombra all have their uses.

I didn’t say that they weren’t useful, I said they weren’t interesting. What’s the point in adding new characters if they’re dull unimaginative clones of existing ones?

That’s like, your opinion man. I find all of them very interesting. The point of more heroes is to give people more ways to identify with them. Doesn’t mean you have to.

They aren’t clones though, sure they have abilities that are similar, but no ability is exactly alike. Heck, that’s before even getting to the actual character behind the hero.

Each Overwatch character still feels unique.

It gives the game variation to different situations and maps. Let’s restrict the content to the game by lessening the heroes, great idea.
