There is absolutely nothing they can do for redeem except a total rework of the game.
So many bad decisions, lazy content, awful balance.
Counterpicking is stupid, people shouldnt be able to switch heroes in game, its just a pathetic excuse « gameplay feature » hiding lazyness. I dont even know why having the same characters in both team is a thing ???
The game needed at least twice the number of heroes we have atm and a pick/ban phase.
Heroes should evolve during the game, level up, skill upgrades just like paladins or any moba.
Such a disappointment this game had so much potential ruined by horrible management and incompetent people.
There were some amazing people on the team that arent working there anymore or have moved. People needd to be appreciated better because their magic makes amazing things
This game was never developed and released as a game for the casual players. Kotick and his evil henchmen saw the rising profit from E-Sports and started drooling over it. So they decided Overwatch should in its entirety focus on capitalising brutally on that aspect. The casual players - according to their master plan - was only good for viewers for their league.
Now with OW2 they’ve even dropped the pretence of caring about the casual market. PvE has more or less been scrapped (yes yes they’re “working” on it and will release it "soon"™ which we all know is Blizzard talk of something released between now and end of time), and everything is focused on E-Sports and OWL. Balance is done in accordance with the pros and the top 1% and that’s about it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if OW2 and OW1 was suddenly separated, and in order to get access to OW2 mode you needed to pay for a battle pass. Then support for OW1 would be dropped in its entirety so the only playable mode would be OW2.
This game is doomed for one reason and one reason alone:
For 6 years the balance team failed this franchise at every corner. Fundamental issues ruining the core of gameplay were left unaddressed over the past 3 years: Multiple Barriers, Heal Stacking, and High Burst Damage have persisted far too long.
These issues were mostly consolidated to a small group of heroes that were never properly addressed. The potential solutions were plentiful and everywhere. From streamers to Reddit to the Forums, ideas were all over the place for solving any and all of these.
This same balance team had no tangible personnel changes and is now effectively reworking the entire hero roster.
I love how someone is saying that the game is doomed whilst (apart from showing the broken company) is complaining about the base concept of the game.
This isn’t R6, no locked characters, no evolution.
You want a different game, that has nothing to do with OW changing, you simply don’t change the base concept.
The biggest mistake IMO was OWL and all the balance/hero changes that happened because of it. The money they wasted pumping into OWL they should’ve used to make a cartoon series or something when the franchise was at peak popularity.
For example, when they moved Symmetra to damage because no-one was playing her in OWL. I seriously doubt any of her mains cared at all that she wasn’t being used in OWL, they just didn’t want their hero deleted the way it was. They would’ve rather she stayed fun/unique. That sounds like a small thing but then look at how they have completely changed Bastion, Mei ect - it all adds up to alot of people being alienated from the game as a result of their main being compeltely changed/ruined.
That was literally the entire point of the game’s design. They didn’t think one tricks would be a thing.
Like, it’s fine to not like it, I guess. I mean, I hard disagree, but this game wasn’t “ruined” if these are your complaints. You are just trying to play the wrong game?
