Doesnt matter how good you play the matchmaker just gives you a bad team if you need to lose, a good team if you need to win. 10+ win lose win lose win lose its so obvious. You think this is a fun balanced matchmaking? And dont come at me with you are at the SR you belong, this happens at multiple SR ratings 500 apart or more. No wonder this game is dying
This is not true. Its âforcedâ 50% because you are at the SR you belong at. If you were better than that SR you would win more and rank up. There is not some invisible matchmaking algorithm holding you back, it is your own gameplay.
I still think player individual skill should factor in somehow, just not sure how youâd measure it with each role or hero.
Having to face opponents who are 5% better than you in terms of SR is prob the best bet though. Not too easy or difficult.
How do you know itâs forced 50% by a system? Maybe thatâs just how you perform?
You seriously think they have a matchmaker that advanced?
Itâs not a forced 50%, however the game is so Team Dependent that itâs incredibly difficult to climb in-game unless youâre already a rank or two higher than where you placed initially, and Solo-Carry Potential in the game is fairly low making it so that matches are effectively decided by the Matchmaker when itâs not the Matchmakerâs actual purpose nor what it was designed to do.
But I have over a 50% winrate so how can it be forced?
I have a 78% winrate after 22 games this season, and on my alts I have super high winrates too and have been climbing on them all. And I play support which people claim isnât possible to carry withâŚ
so idk. I really donât think the matchmaker is out to get anyoneâŚif you have a 50% winrate after a lot of games maybe you just are in the rank you belong in? If everyone climbed then ranks wouldnât even likeâŚexist. Everyone canât be GM, etc.
Nothing wrong with peaking in a rank, just gives you the extra push to see what you can improve on to push through it.
You really cant read can you? I can climb easily on alt accounts. But once an account is âdecidedâ it goes to 50%
Except that doesnât make any sense. When is an account âDecidedâ?
And yes, I can read, thanks.
If you can climb as you claim then it isnt 50%
While I agree not everyone will be making it to t500 it is pretty messed up how some silver players can hold their own in a plat game or how some t500 players (red shell) struggle on some heroâs at a relatively low elo.
If someone can play a specific elo but not make it to that elo that is more problematic at the matchmaker being inconsistent.
I donât like how matches can be very one sided. Either we stomp them or they stomp us. Too much of that and it feels bad, even though the win/loss is still 50%/50%.
A few weeks ago I won almost 20 games in a row. My total for the weekend was probably 40-10. I took a few days off and came back and guess what⌠I went on a 10 game losing streak. Couldnât do a single thing to win any of those matches.
The lesson is to get on a winning streak and literally never stop playing I guess?
Itâs not forced 50%. The way the system works is lets say youâre 2250 and you win a few games and now youâre 2450. Itâs going to put you in a Plat game to see if youâre ready for Plat.
The game will be harder and if you lose you drop SR but not as much as if you win.
Then you might lose again and still be slightly above where you started.
Itâs not an overnight process 10 SR gain per hour is a good estimate for what to expect to gain. Thatâs not my words thatâs from a coach of an OWL team and a OW content creator (Jayne).
The important thing is to not let a couple loses discourage you. And if you lose 2 or 3 in a row just stop playing for the time being and play something other than competitive and come back later.
It only seems like 50/50 to most people because they only play a few games a day which is understandable⌠The queue time and match length combined with a long long grind. This account was over 180 hours or something I donât remember exactly to go from Bronze to Masters and I was 70% win rate on all my heroes.
I mean I could see a silver holding their own in a plat game for a single game. If its the right map, against the right composition, maybe they even play well. The thing about lower SRs is that people play maps and heroes completely wrong, but maybe the way they play is right on some maps but they do not adjust properly. That is ignoring whether you pick a hero you are good with versus a hero you are not god at.
The amount of variance in a single game of OW, especially at low SRs, means that its generally a bad metric of your overall skill due to all of the above not only affecting you, but also affecting your opponents.
I think they could stand to reduce Sr range from 1000 to around 750 so it is closer to a variation between 2 ranks being mixed vs sometimes you have 3 different ranks in the mix of a single game which is not a competitive experience at all.
I mean it goes down once you hit the higher ranks, which creates a hilarious situation where you will often get teammates who you would not actually be eligible to queue with.
I find the whole match maker weird.
When I played with my friends, I got into plat (6 stack), they got into diamond. I managed just fine, and my friends even said I wasnât a burden (they were very honest people). When they solo Qed, theyâd stay in diamond. Not me however. The game seems hell bent on putting me in gold, despite the fact I can perform in a higher SR scenario.
Now those friends have quit OW, so I guess Iâll be forever gold. I just donât understand how the system works.
You are at the SR you belong. Next.
