This entire year of balancing has been nothing but reverts

Think about it.

  1. Role Queue gets added = GOATs era nerfs undone
  2. Healers that have been powercrept toned back down to pre-Role Queue levels
  3. Now DPS are toned back down to pre-Role Queue levels

Armor reverted.
Beam damage vs Armor reverted
Mercy partially reverted to pre-GOATs power level.
Zenyatta and Lucio partial reverts to pre-GOATs
Roadhog back to his old Overwatch days.
Zarya nothing but back and forth changes.
Pharah back and forth changes.

So much for “fast and aggressive” changes. It’s just a trick. It’s ALL REVERTS.

Wrong
Beam damage was never affected by armor til recent. So the buff is not a revert smh

Well, reverts are actually an easy and viable way to balance a game, cause the devs have (more or less) reliable data on how the hero will perform after it.

Why is it that when OW nerfs someting they always nerf them to the ground and when they buff something they buff them so much to the point the become OP. Look at genji recently his damage was buffed to 30 as well as other aspects of his game, then they realised this was too OP so they went back to 28. They nerfed 3 elements of sigma all at once like WTF! i dont play sigma that often but sig is basically unplayable. He is essentially a bad off tank. What was the need to reduce shield, increase shield regen time and increase cooldown of his kinetic grasp. There was no need to do all 3. Honestly this just makes the devs look bad. I question if the people behind these changes even play the game like even myslef with just over 200 hours in the game could see that genji was OP before his buff was essentially reverted. Same thing with sig and dont get me started on hogg. All I see now in my comps are hogg zarya. What happened to OW trying to balance the game.

I get that this game can never be perfectly balanced and that balancing is dificult but some of these changes are just horrendous. I’m seeing Ashe rn in the patch notes getting 2 more nerfs after they already nerfed her dynamite. I aknowledge that ashe is meta and a very good pick atm but why is there a need to reduce her damage AND reduce her ammo (this could nerf her to the ground). It will probably be the sigma situation all over again imo. Seriously OW loves overdoing things a lot.

Lol, you mean Meta’s that aren’t as bad as today? That means, less poke damage, less spam damage.

Sig is fine you just have to play him well

fair enough but you could say that about any character. Bastion is fine as long as I play him well. The point i am trying to make is when OW tries to balance the meta and we end up with only seeing zarya hogg. Like even when it was double shield I would see a range of tanks being played now the meta especially for tanks is the most unbalanced I have ever seen it.

Imo sigma is really bad now but literally yesterday i won a game with sigma got a couple of medals and POTG. I also carried a few games with bastion aswell. Does that mean both sigma and bastion are good atm? NO. Meta only applies at gm and pro level which I am not in. According to meta stats they along with other characters are some of the worst performing ones with the worst pick rates. I played those characters and won because I got away with playing against bad players. Its just annoying seeing OW having to make changes to the meta literally every month becasue they are incapable of balancing.

It is quite simple. Since they have never had a design philosophy in mind for Overwatch they are just haphazardly making changes based on what they think would be popular.

It’s like they are standing in the middle of the room where everyone is tugging them in a different direction and they just choose which one is pulling the hardest.

The fact is, that Overwatch has tanked in popularity, to the brink of dying. A triple-A game needs a critical mass, and the question is, if the game even has that.
They butchered their game with many of the new hero releases and many of the changes they made. Brigitte singlehandedly created GOATS and started the death spiral of the game. Shields is another thing that happened (together with the excessive AoE heals of healers like Moira and Baptiste), that made the game’s speed drop to a snail’s pace, while squeezing out the last remnants of skill requirement, which again chased away the players craving a challenge.

Is it any wonder Overwatch almost died?

If they want to revert back to happier times, I can fully understand it. I hope it is in time to actually save the game - or if that doesn’t happen, to put it in a decent state before the OW2 release and the obvious upsurge that will happen with it.

I wonder when all the fanboys will realize that Blizzard just 'Save your life!'d the Overwatch community, tricking them into thinking they were getting more time and attention when really they just came along, knocked the table over, and then helped set it back up again to prove what a good boy they were.

Nah Bastion is exploitable and you’re essentially forcing your whole team to play around him.

Zarya hog aren’t great if you have a smart team. They have no shields so just charge your ult off hog and go in with it.

Why don’t they just revert everything at once then? I mean, we already know how it was before goats so just reset it at once.

Things needed reverting though as the power creep was ridiculous. They put in a bunch of dps buffs to counter GOATS. Then did away with GOATS with role queue but left all those buffs in. So it’s only right they roll them back to some degree.

I say if they are on this revert train then it’s time to revert Sym and Mercy. Bonus Mercy will be worse at pocketing snipers so y’all get what you want.

They did have a design philosophy. Rock paper scissors hero shooter but that didn’t work out since they excluded some heroes from it making it unfair for everybody else and then they abandoned it completely by releasing nothing but generalist heroes

It was affected, just inconsistently between beams. Each beam has its own tickrate with its own damage per tick, and before the flat 20% reduction they followed the standard rules for armor (each instance of damage reduced by 50% or 5, whichever’s less). This meant that Winston’s Tesla Cannon ate a full 50% reduction while full charge Zarya was around 13% (assuming both weapons tick once for each unit of ammo depleted).
