off to a flying start…said no one.
Is there a new dev update?
ya, its with the sound team, just started. its bad, i turned it off within seconds
Well, if you know it’s about sound design and such, and don’t care about that, then it makes sense. I think the audio in overwatch is amazing, but I also don’t care to learn more about it, so I won’t watch it, or complain about it ![]()
I cared about the sound design, when it worked. The only reason to watch this update would be to see if they FINALLY fixed it.
whether or not i care about a topic is irrelevant, when considering the quality of the broadcast
people make topics interesting, but the people who blizz uses for these type of events is not good.
Nothing wrong with the livestream imo.
It’s about what I’d expect for audio being the topic, they show some fun details on how they did some sounds.
its the quality that i find lacking. aaron does a good job at these types of events, but the people have doing it for this specific one, and i will include the last one i watched which i think was about the art team and their design, just had the wrong people being showcased.
i personally would not want to be highlighted in one of those videos, and it seems like some of their employees feel the same way
They’re interviewing the people who did the sounds. Dunno what you would be expecting them to interview. Of course these people are not super experienced public speakers necessarily, and i wouldnt expect them to be.
If you wanted that kind of stuff then you’d do a pre recorded video instead and keep shooting until you’re happy with it.
Dunno what quality is bad for you either. They cover audio related topics well enough for me.
production quality is important. thats why you typically rehearse these things
it just seems like blizz blindfolded themselves, and threw darts at a bunch of names and said ok! you will now be speaking!
Audio and video quality is fine to me? The bunch of names all seem to be people working in the audio department for the game. So dunno what the problem is.
For real. Blizz isn’t a small indie company. When they put on a livestream it NEEDS to be 4k HD, directed by Spielberg, a score by zimmer, on an IMAX screen with ONLY A list celebrities and talent to present the information.
But seriously dude, it’s a sound design update stream… it’s not that big a deal ![]()
And if it really is that big a deal to you, just turn it off and read the notes after like a normal person. Problem solved
people who are bad at speaking publicly, should either not do it, or have been given enough time and training to close the gap between what should be expected, and what is delivered.
the delivery is weak
So you’d rather not have a livestream with the devs if they’re not also professional public speakers, ok. I dont care at all if they have interesting answers and its fun to see people in person.
this seems to be our disconnect
People who may have the requisite public speaking experience may not understand the material well enough to discuss it. Those who know the material well enough to discuss it likely arent going to magically get a lot better even with rehearsal.
These are people who are excited and passionate about their work and taking their time to talk about it – likely in a setting they’re not normally comfortable with – and you’re literally making fun of them.
then thats why you practice, and do re-shoots instead of poorly guided live events
if you struggle at math, but practice doing math would you expect to get better at math?
Did John Williams die? If so, RIP.
Or you can just understand that not everything has to be some big elaborate prescreened and rehearsed stream and some nice people wanted to share some cool information with you without making it into some big thing.
I didnt say practice doesnt help, but if you’re really really bad at math and agree to do a live math competition, cramming in a bunch of multiplication table practice and reading some math books ahead of time isn’t going to change much.
Public speaking and comfort doing this type of stuff is not something you get better at overnight. It takes tons of practice to feel comfortable doing so, and if you dont do it regularly that’s not going to change. These people might be intentionally trying to break their comfort zone out of the kindness of their hearts to share something they’re passionate about and tbh you’re just being super negative about it and insulting them.
so like higher education?
whats your argument at this point? you claim practice doesnt work, you claim blizz and or other businesses shouldnt care about the quality of a product they produce.
are you just mediocre?
