This’ll be it for me

If the next season doesn’t fix matchmaker and balance in the game I’m uninstalling until a future season.

Since there’s not really a problem with the matchmaker… you better uninstall right now cause there’s not gonna be a “fix”.

For now at least. No guarantees it sticks around.

But then you won’t get mythic Dva

Oh is that why I get games where my whole team does not have a SINGLE kill while the enemy goes 20-0?

Damn, that matchmaker works so well!

I get those every once in a while, like every 100 games or so.

It happens. Play enough games and statistical outliers will occur :woman_shrugging:

Here’s a little history lesson:

Every single season going back to S1 of OW1 has had matchmaking and balance complaints…

Those are not things that have “fixes”….balancing a game like this is not possible and the only thing you can ever do is go from one state of unbalance to another….and matchmaking is ALWAYS scapegoated and complained about in ALL games

If what you need to play the game is the impossible then you may as well just quit now

Im sorry but my experience is not every 100 games or so it’s more like every 15.

Its even worse when you go on a win streak.

Both will never be fixed. NEVER. Press “Uninstall” Today.

There’s no such thing as a “fix” for the MM.

Once you understand that humans will always be the largest factor in how the MM feels, which is typically all over the place with little consistency, things change. The MM does suck and can be improved. But it won’t ever be fixed.

While I agree that there is no fix I definitely think there are things they could do to improve average match quality, and i think one of those things is to narrow the search, I think at this point people would welcome a 3-5 minute wait if it meant consistent close games.

Problem is that wait will not get consistently good games. There are way too many factors that the matchmaker cannot account for. It can have matches were every single player has the same mmr, but on one team, the tank is learning ball who they don’t normally play. Can easily be a stomp based off of 1 person. Someone can also be distracted, drunk, picking a bad hero for the comp. Not swapping when countered, just having a bad game etc. Also some people just use qp for goofing off, others take it seriously. People blame the matchmaker for so much, when all it can do is make the match, it doesn’t decide what the 10 players do after that.

Last match our Hog went 4-7 with 1,670 dmg and 5,508 healing.
This was an endorse 1 player.

Matchmaking is impossible to fix because of smurfing, but stuff like this should still never happen.

suuuuuure be matched into gm in qp, sure sure no mm issue

Definitely agree with all of that, I also think that isn’t proper motivation to try things that can be controlled. I would even appreciate an option when queuing to avoid wide games and increase wait time, worst case it turns out to provide zero value.

Because sometimes games are genuinely lost. You’re not climbing because you’re not winning the games that ARE winnable. Like I’m diamond 5, so nothing like crazy, I’m just decent at the game and I have a 55% winrate. If I can do it I promise anyone here can

Don’t let the ana sleep you on the way out :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Not in my experience.

Most games for me are stomps. Win or lose its stomps. Its about 1 in 15 games that are actual close games.

Thats not a good matchmaker. Maybe its just a location thing as there arent as many players in oceana. But it has been this way since ow2 launched. It wasnt this bad in ow1 on the old engine and old mm, even when the playerbase died down.

6 v 6 is better but still way more stomps in it that i experienced in ow1.

I mean… it is an issue that Blizzard deliberately accepted. One major point of QP is that you can queue with your friends irrespective of their MMR. That means if I, a bronze player, want to play with my friend, a GM player, we can do that in QP.

Less a problem with “the algorithm” or whatever. If you want consistently close matches, MMR-wise, you have to play comp. Nothing more to it.
