Think up a new Mercy ult #ReworkMercy

So people don’t like Valk and people don’t like Mass Rez.

Let’s get a fresh start and come up with a new Mercy ult that isn’t Valk or Mass Rez.
Someone must have some ideas since Mass Rez has hit a wall and players don’t like Valk.
I haven’t yet seen #reworkMercy threads discuss actual alternatives.
Help progress Mercy and throw those old ults away.
Aka, discuss a NEW idea and not tweaks to existing or pre-existing ones.

Personally, I like Valkyrie as it is, and I dont think changing or removing it would be progress for Mercy

Give Mercy a mid-fight ability or buff the current one (rez)

Well the hashtag is to rework her so I want to see the people who actually want to rework her and what their ideas are.

Synergy
AoE healing effect that distributes 480 HP (the exact number is tentative) between the nearby allies evenly, including dead ones (treated as 0 HP). It is divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, so no remainders are required.
During the effect, Mercy’s wings will pop out and the “synergyyyyyy” from Mission Statement by Weird Al will play.

but

you also said “help progress Mercy”, and as I see it, such changes will not be progress for Mercy

Penance staff:
Mercy places her staff and a burst aoe goes out for 200 hp. Applies toalive targets or rezzes dead ones. Staff is up for 5 sec and in the aoe Mercy can fly , has increased fire rate for pistol and cannot enage in healing. Instead her staff gives an aoe healing of 30 hps and 30% dmg boost.

This way Mercy earns rez, and her ult isn’t reliant on teammates dying

I think val and rez on e inherently holds a mercy back from growing and improving so I want it gone

I saw an idea a couple of days ago(?) that suggested an ult that made it impossible for Mercy’s team to drop below 1 hp for a set amount of time, so sort of a psuedo Mass Rez but the supports need to work well together to ensure team survival after the effects wear off.
Not sure how I feel about that exact idea, but it’s interesting.

There was this idea in one of the really old megathreads, I’d link it if I were on my Comp, I can only remember it being called Miracle Worker and being pretty interesting as well. I think it was OP in the initial suggestion, but trimming fat to make it work without breaking the game would be an option.

Okay, this is very random, literally just thought of this, what about basically a torb ult, but instead of doing damage it heals and allies want to stand in it, and maybe if enemies stand in it they get slowed or something

I’d honestly just rework Valk.

  1. Get rid of chain beams, just make her single beam a lot stronger. Beam management is an integral part of Mercy’s kit. The fact that it becomes irrelevant during her ult is honestly kind of silly.
  2. Get rid of free-flight. Valk’s “Spectator Mode” is probably the biggest factor in making Valk feel so wimpy and lame. Instead, Valk should give the following effects:
  • Guardian Angel cooldown reduced from 1.5 seconds to 1 second.
  • Guardian Angel travel speed increased to 35 (currently 30)
  • Guardian Angel can be used without a teammate targeted, but doing so reduces its max range to 40 meters (rather than the normal 60).
  • Aiming straight up will perform a rapid, vertical super jump with a spiraling animation that can be canceled into another Guardian Angel dash during its later frames.

Valk has the potential to be a good ult, it’s just boring, mindless, and unengaging. It’s also just a bit weak, as is most of Mercy’s kit since everything else has to be balanced around the statistical fat elephant that is Resurrect. I think Valk would be so much better if it emphasized the best parts of Mercy’s kit instead of basically removing them for its duration.

Enemies stand in it they get heal reductions

Mercy’s new ultimate will be Avenging Angel. She will still fly as in Valkyrie, but she will fire down lightning bolts that lock on to everyone below her, healing teammates and damaging enemies.

Make it so Mercy can actually die.
Also make it an aura around her, require LOS.

Would be more fitting of her “Hereos never die” voiceline than current E and ult.

I respectfully disagree, and as such, I want her to remain as she is, in her current state

How about taking a page from Destiny 2?

Caduceus Halo:

  • Mercy slams her Caduceus staff into the ground and creates a giant yellow ring.
  • Allies in this ring get healed over time and deal out more damage.
  • Ring lasts for 8-10 seconds and cannot be moved once slammed.

changes are, by definition, progress. :roll_eyes: Especially if the goal is to make a hero more fun and balanced.

I believe that Mercy is already fun and balanced, and as such, any changes will not be (or represent) progress

That’s your opinion, maybe let others have theirs, too.

I see you in every single mercy thread saying you don’t want her to be changed, we get it. But this is a thread about coming up with changes.
