This is a question I have for the devs: why would you revert the change? It gave him back his old, fun tempo, it made him feel sturdier, and he felt like he needed more aim and skill to get his full offensive value. In my opinion, it was a much better version of the character. Was there some sort of data you collected in a week?
Doubtful they collected any data in a week since apparently it took them over a year of data from brig to nerf her and the same for mercy.
This was the first patch where there were multiple things on the ptr that either didnât make it to live or were tweaked from original values.
Heâd be well beyond op.
Brig giving armor/constant mercy pocket would make him basically a tank.
I think it increased his TTK against multiple targets while not really buffing his survivability - because most characters who can deal 200 damage quickly can do an extra 50 damage without much issue.
Additionally, I donât think itâd have been worth dealing with angry Symm mains who have demanded for a similar buff for months now. @_@
50 extra health is not going to magically make him a tank. Come on now
Just appeasing the whiners as usual.
I highly doubt he would be op.
Hes always been pretty weak, hes one of the only heros who has never been meta, people still use his ult to reload, he has the lowest pick rate in the OWL along with Solider and Ashe. If that doesnât show mid hitscan dont have a place in higher ranks than idk what will.
Hes one of the most diveable and killable heros in the game. His kit stuggles because 2 abilities want to be close range while lacking the mobility to move in and his primary wants to be mid range.
And the changes were loved by Mccree mains, they really liked the slower fire rate. I mean how often is there been a nerf to a hero that the mains actually like?
Except unlike a Tank, he doesnât have any form of self-sustain or defensive abilities for himself or his teammates.
In the case of Soldier & Ashe, I feel like it has more to do with Widowmaker & Hanzo vastly overshadowing them with their burst damage capability. Soldierâs sustained damage was just not cutting it against all of the healing, and Asheâs burst damage, while good, also wasnât high enough (ala Widowmaker) nor fast enough (ala McCree) to be effective.
But with McCree, itâs definitely his survivability.
The only time McCree was meta during OWL (not to mention an asset rather than a detriment to his team on ladder) was back during the Moth meta. Why? Because he HAS to have a Mercy attached to him to be able to do anything.
McCree averages the second most deaths out of every hero in the game barring Doomfist, and yet according to the forums, heâs a mid-long range hero who can just stay in the back and not get hit.
I play him as one of my go to dps if I want to play.
I liked slow fire rate myself because of the impact it felt and it wasnât ârushedâ.
50 hp wouldnât make him a tank but itâd be giving highly skilled players broken hero. In lower levels, it wonât make any difference, but in higher tier, he would be better I guess.
I didnât have any complaints about the buff to be honest. I just said what everyone was referring to.
If you want my personal opinion, well, Iâm glad they didnât. There would be no shortage of Sym threads this week.
Not hating on sym players, but I have seen too many sym players using tp inside entire opponents. Coming by herself and dying in 1s as a result. Then coming to forum to say how sheâs weak. If those annoying turrets go away, give her 50hp more with 20m range. All in for that.
A lot of players (who play mainly other heroes and have 0 hour on Mccree ) complained and devs didnât make the changes live. And Iâm happy that they didnât.
He still wouldnât be broken.
What made Doomfist, Reaper, & Mei so difficult and âOPâ in the eyes of a lot of people was the fact that in addition to having 250 HP, they had built-in mechanics to their kit that allowed them to extend their lives
Doomfist could generate shields with every successful ability use, Reaper could damage the enemy AND regenerate his health simultaneously, and Mei could become immune to all incoming damage, cleanse any status effects against her, AND regenerate her health.
McCree still would have been the same immobile, non-self-sustaining hero that heâd always been in the higher tiers and lower tiers.
No, I get it as well.
I was never for Symmetra having 250 HP because unlike most 250 HP heroes, her hitbox is TINY compared to theirs, which allows her to survive a LOT longer than most other close quarters DPS.
Could I see a slight range increase, definitely, but buffing Symmetraâs HP would not be the way to go in my opinion.
I actually got aggravated when forum-goers kept saying that âMcCree got a buff that Symmetra-Mains kept asking forâ, when in reality, McCree-Mains have been asking for a HP/survivability buff for the LONGEST time.
It hasnât been reverted, it just hasnât been pushed to live yet. The change is still on ptr so we can hope itâll go through to live at some point.
And I guess if they defnitely discard it theyâll remove it from the ptr.
that change looked like they were adding something so they can remove it later in the patch, and say, we heard the feedback, people didnt want ticcree.
And 2 years later theyâre still collecting data to meaningfully nerf Spamzo.
Yeah⌠I do agree, this is not based on any data.
Because thereâs no reason to change a hero thatâs balanced.
Oh ya the fact they use âdataâ to justify their buffs and nerfs are a joke. They are clearly biased when it comes to how they treat a dps and how they treat a healer or tank when it comes to a buff or nerf. A dps gets a slight adjustment while healers and tanks will get their whole kit nerfed. Ya Orisa did need some nerfs but look at how they didnât hesitate to go with all those nerfs at once. Where as hanzo they just do a little and let sit for a few seasons and then they do a bit more lol.
Their bias has been showing off the last 3 years.
Guess he went to the gym hard after gaining 50 HP.
I wonder how that is transferred to weight?
Mei and Reaper would like a word. Both have so much sustain due to high healing in the game + their HP and survivability abilities that theyâre part of the 2-2-2 version of goats in pro scene.
Not really. Probably wouldnât have changed much.
My guess is they threw thicCree onto the PTR as an experiment along with a few other changes they were more comfortable with just to see what would happen. Iâll be honest and say it was probably one part actual test, and one part distraction for effect to get us to actually look at the PTR.
I mean, how many threads did you see about how the patch didnât actually have you download anything? IMO, thatâs the real news.
50 points of health isnât worth the damage nerf.
