They're worried about comp fairness?

Why are they worried about the comp bieng affected by a new char?

The comp play is already garbage fire qp with people picking what ever they want then possible working together at the end or getting into toxic rage because of losses. Reporting seemed to do something at the beg of the season but has pittered out?

At least with a new char the garbage fire is fresh garbage…?

Ranked is the biggest toxic [Edited by Blizzard] fest. You cant even q as a team because no one will. This game is a joke. There is 0 teamwork and no incentive to group up at all!

If you agree pleease comment

They’re worried about it because Overwatch is on a noticeable trend and its not a good one. Almost all of it is focused and fueled by competitive and ranked.

Probably because the SR system is a steaming pile of crap, but they wont admit or address its flaws. (Mercy rework because performance SR mandated hide/rez to rank up and boosted bad play, I’m looking RIGHT at you, along with boosted one tricking and stat padding instead of playing to win).

Agree.

If you find nice people and group the games gets harder.

Does it get harder for the people you are put up against as well?

When I used to press or accept the “stay as a team” button, I’d get instantly matched against much better organized groups. I also got some weird mixes with silver and gold players against our whole bronze team.

The playing vs better organized teams is the nature of the thing. Perfectly ok, in spite of scaring away people with bad experiences from accepting a party, but that’s fair and has to be that way. But getting higher tier players is tougher if you just group on the fly with randoms.

I recently been having better luck with grouping despite of it, but I don’t agree with balancing the opposing team with higher skilled players because you are in the group. It doesn’t encourage you to group and you should always be rewarded for grouping in a team game, because in the long run you make friends, play together, etc. It’s why they have xp boost in QP.

That’s expected because in solo-queue you predominantly play tactically in organised group, you need to play strategically. If you don’t do this of course you won’t do well against a team that does.

I would agree with you if the game developer wanted people to play as a team, however the reward for playing in a team is reducing the random elements. If you want to succeed as a team though you need to start looking at other aspects as well:

  • Ensuring everyone knows the maps
  • Training together
  • Work out your defensive positions
  • Work out who works well together
  • Ensure you have a good basic team composition and have range for adapting
  • Ensure you work together as a team
  • Organize scrims
  • etc… etc…

If you are telling me you don’t do this when you group up, I’d say you aren’t serious and of course you’ll be rolled by any remotely serious contender.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

At least in solo queue you know what to expect, but if you enter group play without some sort of organisation, I can tell you you are going to be rolled by those that do prepare.

Don’t suggest it is harder simply because you failed to prepare or organize your team.

Dude… I’m saying that casual grouping is harder.

If it were just for the organized teams ok. But inflating skill on the opposing team when the system doesn’t have groups as big as yours is not. Maybe if you queue with people before a game, but still, that’s discouraging groups.

Better to just remove the stay as team button from competitive then.

I’m just saying that this is a game where playing organized is very important and (I don’t know why) but this community, at lower levels at least, doesn’t like to talk much or write in chat for that matter…

For sure, but how do you distinguish casual from organised or even casual solo-queue vs those who do everything in their power in solo-queue to succeed?

Their results?? SR???

I think I kind of agree with you, I just kind of don’t understand how the match maker would only be skewed against your team and not the other that’s all. I mean 6 stack vs 5 stack + 1 for example (is the 5 + 1 all in team chat?), how does it suggest 1 side is better than the other? 6 stack (organised or disorganized) vs guaranteed disorganized solo-queuers?

I probably just need someone to explain to me how it favors one team or another in what is meant to be what it calculates to be a fair match.

I think the team button should stay. I have made new friends through it in the early days, but I certainly wouldn’t go beyond 2 or 3 stack for the reasons I listed above. It doesn’t mean the button should be removed.

My idea is that if you queue in a group of let’s say silver guys, the system should get only silver, even if it can’t find a group the same size.

This aiming for theoretical 50/50 discourages that and from my point of view it’s worse.

You may feel that the guys on the other side should have an equal shot, but I think they should work together or strive to start grouping as well.

Both points of view are somewhat valid, but it’s my opinion, I think it’s better for the game, that’s all.
