They're tripling down on the greed

The “battlepass rework” was already a bad sign. If you already own all the heroes and mythic skins you care about then all this amounts to is $0.60 worth of extra free coins per season that are less annoying to earn. You’re actually in some ways getting less out the the BP now that the 1 mythic skin tier has been replaced with 8 tiers of mythic prisms. But still it’s a net positive for new players I guess

They’re also still putting unthemed skins in the battlepasses, but the scorpion baptiste looks cool so I’ll give it a pass.

What I’m really here to rant about now is Venture. Every hero before mauga had skins that could be unlocked for free credits. But at least Mauga, and every hero before him, had a skin that could be unlocked relatively cheap through the battlepass during his first season, and he had another that could be unlocked at a somewhat discounted price through the battlepass bundle. But Venture, Venture only has 1 skin, and you can only get it by paying $20.

Just wow, that’s a whole new level of desperation

So blizz drops a free game witha battlepass. Are called corpos because heroes need purchased in bp.

So blizz makes heroes free. Battlepass focused on skins. Now called greedy for wanting paid for their effort?

They get no praise for removing a feature that shouldn’t have existed in the first place, especially if it comes with a cost

I’m assuming it will just be like the white credits. The currency plus an item. Same with coins being added. Coins plus an item in the same tier.

Has always been the case. Not every skin fits the season theme.

Say free all you want. Let’s not pretend like they offered a paid version. I hate hearing “free” like players should be grateful. It’s only free because they know in the long run they make more. Not because the players wanted it to be free. If they want to throw a full access $74 version if OW2 I and many will gladly buy it.

It wasnt free, I paid 40 bucks for it. Just because they removed the original version and pretended to release a sequel does not negate the fact it was not free.

oh another one of these " blizz is greedy b/c they charge money for their game" posts /yawn

technically they are increasing your decision-making power to make purchases: mercy is not your main? Save the prisms for a next season. Were you tired of “working” for 12 weekly challenges to get 60 coins? now at least by playing almost whenever you want in normal bp you get coins directly.

you can’t expect “miracles” the game is still f2p and in pve they don’t seem to want to invest in it anymore. There are really no surprises about this. but hey… it was better before with mythical skins that you can’t choose if you really want them or save money? Was it better to have 12 weekly challenges, some of which are now impossible over time (8 progression heroes)?

If you don’t know the lore of the game or aren’t interested… it’s not your thing. frankly I see more skins of the theme here than in season 6 which had the pve debut.

What problems exactly would there be in postponing a ski nd adventure to another battle pass where other heroes (like Brigitte) haven’t had any for 10 seasons? :person_shrugging: because we’re always talking about paid contents in the premium bp like mauga, illari, Rammatra and lifeweaver: all skins premium, right?

The doom posters will complain no matter what. Could be the greatest changes ever making it the most perfect game ever made.

“Blizzard should have done this sooner, I am done, dead game” and so on. Just entitlement running wild.

“drops a free game with a battle pass” is quite misleading. They took a game that tens of thousands had purchased and made it free. Then they took stuff that was earnable in the game and put it behind premium pay walls and removed almost all free methods of obtaining that content. Heroes, Maps, and Skins. None of it required purchasing in OW1. You simply had to play and you’d earn it. Heroes were released to everyone day 1.

So they get credit for fixing a problem of their own creation? If I’m walking up to you and smacking you in the face every single day, and then after multiple years of this I stop doing that, should I be praised?

If you’ll recall, as I said, Skins used to be free. An amazing skin dropped? Earn a level and try to unlock it via Loot boxes. You never had to pay $20-$50+ for a skin.

People are calling them Greedy because they are. Because they’re not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.

Actually, I’ve seen some recent articles saying that $70 pricetag for games is no longer sustainable.

Gaming is changing.

Helldivers isn’t sustainable? Seems to be sustaining itself just fine.

Baldur’s Gate 3 would like to have a word with you too. That game set and is continuing to set records. A complete game. For $70. Multitudes of awards. Almost every major award you can win.

But that’s not a live service game. Which is the next argument. But I agree these games like Elden ring or baldurs gate 3 may not make more money but they do leave with a substantially better reputation which helps with long term sales for future games.

It’s almost like you don’t have to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to make a game fun.

This BP is lacklustre.

all BP’s are “lackluster” but they’re necessary.
It never made sense how OW1 was a one-time purchase but yet got constant updates.

I would like them to be packed with interesting content. It’s the only reward for playing except for events that don’t give much and ugly “jade” weapons.

definitely dont disagree with you there. I did think the skins this past season were pretty good. But I also play Moira a lot and i loved the PvE event this season.
