That’s right. Make all heroes DPS.
“Tanks” should have a little bit more life, and a little bit less damage.
“Support” should be able to heal others a little bit; not enough to “sustain.”
Get rid of payload maps.
Boom, the game is fixed.

Who am I ‘sustaining’ in a one shot meta?
Boom. The game is bland as hell and like every game in the history of the world as the best strategy is and forever shall be just do more damage 4head.
Supports forced to sustain more with light DPS makes the role a drastically different type of skill set and focus than DPS or tank.
i think you lost most people with this
True.
Support power needs to be shifted into utility, and teams need to be less reliant on healing.
Keep support at a lower damage output, but give them tools to secure their kills and the choice to use those tools on allies to help them secure their kills.
Healing should be minimal to the point where someone isn’t throwing if they choose to pursue a more damage oriented playstyle.
Just Protection Suzu every Widow headshot, easy.
They already took away so much on what made so many heroes unique and we are pretty much going down this trend. Honestly, I should just go buy Call of Duty at this point.
Get rid of payload maps so the only maps left are push and king of the hill?
What are you smoking?
Put very simply, they either make the Support Role more appealing to DPS/Tank players, or they are going to lose large fractions of the playerbase to bad matchmaking.
And they can lose a substantial amount of players that don’t like that.
After playing Kiriko for a while, I disagree. Nothing worse than being dominated by a stupid turret. Because that’s one consequence of low damage output.
Most heroes should have a decent damage output and be able to carry their games.
Well yeah. Put even more simply than my previous statement.
People who don’t want Supports to have good selfpeel, that isn’t heavily cooldown dependant, can either forfeit that idea, or quit.
Because they aren’t going to get the needed Support players if they are heavily co-dependant on peel, but other Role aren’t.
And they need Matchmaking fixed more than they need MMORPG enthusiasts.

I just mean keep it slightly lower than dps with the trade off being super high utility. In other games the comparison would be something like a brawler compared to, say, an assassin. The assassin has low damage but is more than capable of securing kills because they are loaded with tools. The brawler just straight up does damage.
The Kiriko/turret example is a weird one and pretty niche. She’s the only hero that relies on crits to do any significant damage, and as we all know the turret has no crit spot so it’s a waste of time having Kiriko be the one to break it.
She has high damage potential vs other players though, and more than enough to self-peel.
By no means do I want supports to be wet noodles (I’m a support player so that’s the last thing I want) but I do want them to be more involved with the FPS side of things, and have loads of tools at their disposal to still support their team in a way that isn’t healing. You just can’t have them do as much damage as a dps otherwise support then becomes the attractive role and no one wants to play dps when they have ‘super utility dps’.
My dude, Blizzard has been making support more appealing to DPS players. And it hasn’t worked. Go figure, DPS players are still gonna queue for DPS.
It’s high time they make support more appealing to supports.
It’s high time they make support more appealing to supports.
How does this solve the problem? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Consider it as this metaphor:
In a room stand 100 people. There’s a table with 3 cakes on - chocolate cake, carrot cake, and a vegan fig cake.
50 people want chocolate cake, but there’s only enough for 33 people.
40 people want carrot cake, plus there’s 17 people who wanted chocolate but can’t have it and want this as their second choice. Again there’s only enough for 33 people.
Then we come to the vegan fig cake. It only appealed to 10 people as their first choice. There are 34 portions so all 10 get a slice.
Now you have 24 people who don’t want fig cake at all but that’s all that’s left. Some take it because they aren’t fussy but don’t particularly enjoy it, and others sit and wait for more chocolate or carrot to come out of the kitchen.
Your solution is akin to: “Make the fig cake more appealing to the people who want fig cake”
Which makes no sense because they already wanted it in the first place.
The real solution is to provide a different third flavour that appeals to more people in the room.
All heroes ARE DPS already. The only difference is that they have other things and the overall “killing potential” is not as high for Supports and Tanks (long range).
I would quit if they made those changes.
Tanks don’t need to be more tanky, they need 50% damage reduction and they’re ready.
Supports need 50% damage reduction and a boost on their movement/utility abilities so they can escape and NOT fight back (they’re supports, not brawlers or assassins).
DPS needs 1 shot abilities removed completely, except if it’s an ultimate ability. Make widow and hanzo headshots deal 195 damage, remove junkrat 1 shot combo since he needs no aim, and increase their hitboxes by 20%.
Payload maps are the best maps in the game. Remove Push completely and never mention it again. Bring back 2CP in its place with a few changes to spawn timers/positions and the game is perfect.
No, they should make all dps in to supports and tanks.
No more dps being non impactful, and no more long q times for dps mains.
Its perfect solution that would make even role lock less needed.
Just Protection Suzu every Widow headshot, easy.
Exactly. And if the other enemy dps is a boosted Sojourn, just make Suzu an ability with no cooldown. No more one shots. Easy as that.
please say that this is satire
Here, I fixed your garbage contrived metaphor.
In a room stand 100 people. There’s a table with 3 cakes on - chocolate cake, carrot cake, and a vegan cake.
50 people want chocolate cake, but there’s only enough for 33 people.
40 people want carrot cake, plus there’s 17 people who wanted chocolate but can’t have it and want this as their second choice. Again there’s only enough for 33 people.
Then we come to the vegan cake. It was originally vegan fig cake but the chefs decided to dump a bunch of cocoa powder into the recipe, and now it has the consistency of an unfired brick. Of the 33 vegans present, 18 leave the room because nobody is forcing them to stay at an event that clearly doesn’t know how to cater to vegans. 5 decide they’ll just eat some of the good non-vegan cake when it’s available. Ten people actually eat the vegan cake, a few might even like it. There are 23 slices left over.
Of the 25 people who didn’t get their first choice, most will wait the ten minutes for new cake to arrive. A few impatient people will leave the room and buy regular chocolate cake from a place that has a better supply of cake. A few will try the vegan chocolate-fig-hybrid cake thinking “oh, that’s a kind of chocolate cake, right?” but when they realize that’s it just worse, they’ll go back to waiting for good cake.
The SSCHallenger’s solution is that instead of dumping more cocoa powder into a lousy vegan cake recipe, the kitchen actually learns how to make vegan cake.
