But the store description of the watchpoint pack USED to say “No later than October 31”
That description was removed, so now all it says is, “The launch is subject to change.”
So no, there’s no hard deadline of they’ll be releasing it on Oct. 31. It HAS NOT been confirmed that the game is delayed, but if it is, we have no solid indication as to how long.
It’s still solidly just speculation at this point and we always knew delays within October were on the table.
I do wonder what’ll happen event-wise if there’s a delay though. One would think they’d have planned to do something for Halloween with the original release date.
Literally a good thing. I rather they launch in an acceptable state than a rushed one. The later the better, but we can expect it by the holiday season because money.
Okay, let’s stop with the defensiveness. I’m going to explain what’s going on, and why people are saying it MAY be delayed.
The Watchpoint Pack description USED to read:
“Upon launch on October 4, you will receive…”
And in the small text, it said, “Date of Overwatch® 2 launch timing subject to change, but shall take place not later than 31 October 2022”
NOW, the pack reads:
"Upon launch in October"
And the description to the side says: “Date of Overwatch® 2 launch timing subject to change” with nothing about the October deadline.
It is a FACT that blizzard went in and changed the text in order to remove specific language about a date.
NO, a delay has not been confirmed.
YES, the text above the purchase still says October 4 (but you have to realize, a different department manages that header than the one who manages these descriptions).
People are speculating that a delay is coming because they went in and removed deadlines from the product page. That is a reasonable speculation, since there really isn’t any other reason to go and do that. There are also several other reasons why people are speculating a delay is coming.
But we don’t know for certain, and it’d sure be really, really nice if Blizzard could just talk to us…
There is nothing official. While I dont necessarily believe a delay is necessary I 100% believe they need to go back to the drawing board and seriously look at monetization development. The vast majority of players at least on the forums and social media hate the idea of putting heroes in the battle pass. Dont burn the few bridges you have left Blizz, lord knows you guys DESPERATELY need a win and some good PR
