They could tweak 2cp to make it playable easily

  • Start the zone as much bigger, then gradually get to the original size over time with percentage captured.
  • More doorways and height.
  • No resetting notches on the progress, any percentage progress should stick.
  • Remove the ‘all team must be dead to progress’ requirement. The more team members in the zone, the faster it progresses, BUT at least 2 or 3 need to be in the zone.

These would increase the feeling of progress which made 2cp so frustrating. It would also remove any chance of a tie and give the mode a changing strategy as the zone changed size, which is why payload/push maps feel less frustrating.

This would be pretty pointless, almost all progress on 2cp was made while the defending team was dead. Only thing it’d assist in is helping Defense contest if they can get back earlier, which is gross.

More doorways and height.

I don’t get the point of this change. Too many doors favors Offense but more high ground favors defense. this just makes the worst parts of every 2cap map, the second point even worse.

No resetting notches on the progress, any percentage progress should stick.

This is already how it worked for final scoring, the notches just give defense a little breathing room. Before them you had to camp point to keep a Sombra from getting 1% and instantly winning a point if you’d gotten 0 progress on it, but camping point is almost always bad positioning so you’d lose anyways.

These would increase the feeling of progress which made 2cp so frustrating.

what made 2cap feel bad was fighting like your life depends on it and winning 8/10 fights but losing anyways because you happened to be on defense. There is nothing that can be changed about the mode that would prevent this other than making the point cap obnoxiously slow.

Clash will become the better 2CP.

2CP needed one thing: more ways to attack the point. Maps like Hanamura literally had a wall you had to break past in order to get to the point. The wall should be removed, made destructible (that’d be cool), or simply have more entrances.

That said, I think 2CP would be popular as is in OW2. I think the complaints were from streamers or an otherwise loud minority that blizzard foolishly listened to. If we have people play Flashpoint, we’ll have people playing 2CP.

Notice I didn’t say “push” because I actually think that game mode is pretty good.

It won’t; it’ll just be the third mode people complain about.

One of 2CPs biggest issues is the fact that the game could realistically end in 3 minutes.
The defenders only needed 2 bad fights to lose which happened a lot with the attackers snowballing with their ults.

…I thought that’s what people wanted out of overwatch. Faster matches, less sustain. Zip, Zip zoom pew pew? Why are fast matches bad for 2CP specifically?

Because no one wants to wait in queue for 7 minutes only to have a 2 minute match.

It was one of the issues they tried to fix that one time they made teams swap after each point.

Fair point. Ok, just remove the ‘team dead’ requirement and make it so at least 2,3 of your team need to be there to progress.

That’s a fair point, but it also seems like its a queue times issue as well. I mainly play Quick Play, so my queues are always two minutes or so.

Me and my friends managed to fully capture Hanamura in 56 seconds once.

That was our PB - we frequently did it in under 90 seconds, though.

2cp is fine. Fast paced games where both teams have chances to win and less space for making mistakes.
