These patch notes are real?!

Imagine giving us beta OW1 Sombra, but some how making her even significantly worse. We don’t get that health pack hack timer increased, hacked enemy timer increase, we can’t force invisibility without wasting our escape route, we only have 5 seconds of stealth? But oh boy, sure glad I got opportunist back… :roll_eyes:

By all means- Bad players will still be bad.

But I hope it will, if nothing else, encourage players to be more active. Again the complaint I have is sombras who sit forever while invis doing nothing passively waiting for an opportunity to do something- making the match feel like a 4v5 most of the match (which makes those opportunities even more rare, as her team is busy getting murdered).

Now (again, hopefully) the players will have to be more actively attempting to do something. “Oh i only have this limited window, better make it work”.

Im not saying this will or wont be a net nerf for sombra, but this is, IMO, the direction she should go. The devs need to try changes that more and more encourage active play. Building around a hero who can sit there indefinitely is not a good game design choice (Regardless of how effective that play style is or isnt).

Just depends whats going on. The point was at least its not guaranteed to be broken now by a stray bit of damage not even meant for the sombra anyways, or if shes already breaking LoS just as she takes the damage, shell get the stealth back for the duration of the ability - instead of having it lost entirely.

What is the benefit of no longer being unstealthed with 1 point of damage if it only lasts a pathetic 5 seconds anyway? lmfao

…don’t forget an Ult that costs twice as much with half the silence duration!

…and doesn’t knock out shield health.

TBH the nerf to bob hacked effect from 10 sec to 3 sec, was the only bizarre change, the rest seems fine.

Not really, I think this one makes the most sense. Bob is really easy to deal with he’s best at giving you a breathing room/gaining time. An ability that requires no skill to use and completely cancels him out sounds kind of stupid when he’s already that weak.

This is actually my biggest problems with the changes too. It’s clunky. I don’t like it.

So you want a sombra that can do 300~400 dps to the first thing that walks into hack range of her team that can dip whenever pushed. While killing her entire flank playstyle.

90% of my play time is on tanks, in over 2500 hours.

This is the single most no brained change the game has ever seen. Whatever developer/s thought of this need to be moved to Heroes of the Storm.

Like the point of virus was to give sombra extra damage, that had a defined limit on a eatable cooldown. To keep her from just pumping out 200~400 dps just with her gun for the whole up time of hack.

But keeping her lethality on dps/supports.

I have zero idea why she got both now, and in turn killed her whole flank play style.

No matter anymore, overwatch 2 is more an skin seller than an FPS hero shooter now.

If she gets translocator reset on kills, then sure.

7 second cooldown with no actual stealth = a sombra that can’t do their job.

Translocator was already awful for escape, it’s so damn easy to punish if you’re paying even a modicum of attention to the direction she’s trying to get out to. A hitscan shot or any dive character was more than enough to punish an escaping sombra.

I’m actually speechless at these changes, just nerf after nerf after nerf.

We constantly see characters like mccree and tracer getting minuscule nerfs AND compensation buffs in the same patch when they’re over performing. Sombra wasn’t over performing by any stretch of the imagination and proceeded to eat multiple hefty nerfs in the same patch. It’s ludicrous.

Another bad thing about this sombra change, people that have bought the le sserafim sombra skin, nobody will see sombra skin anymore lmao.

And probably a few others should be dumpstered. Why? Because at least on the forums, these are the only characters besides Sombra that I ever see complaints about. As for Sombra? You people got exactly what you asked for and each time, you keep complaining. Just watch, half way through next season, they’re going to buff her cloak again by 2-5 seconds minimum and consider taking away her weapon buff against hacked targets to balance out losing lethality for stealth.

The only people who complain about Sombra are people who hate permanent cloak and people who hate her burst damage. The former they’re nerfing HARD and they’re giving a minor buff to the latter.

Seriously, look at how she was at OW2 launch:

Remained cloaked while hacking
40% bonus damage
Lock out reduced significantly.

Nerfed her damage buff to 20% later, reduced the lock out again, and prevented her from hacking hacked targets. Now her already pitiful damage is even more pitiful.

Rework! Virus, Hack gets a small rework, cloak and TL get reworked for better stealth and punishes bad escapes while buffing her lethality.

Almost no one complained about her permanent cloak until after she got the rework that added Virus. Seriously, almost no one did. After that though? Well, you people got what you wanted. She couldn’t escape as well as she used to, making her more present in fights, which required a buff to her damage output and/ or consistency.

And now she, a flanker, will have to use her escape ability to get in position to Hack people, then melt them as quickly as she can (which will be faster now) once her cloak is almost gone so she can escape sooner after she picks off a target.

They “fixed” one of your problems and are making the other worse. Either you’ll keep complaining about her, or you’ll just find another who “everyone hates playing against” and say they “should be dumpstered for it”. They removed Sombra’s luxury of being able to pick any fight she wants. In exchange, they made it easier for her to kill the target.

The fundamental problem with the character is she requires teamwork to handle, and you got to be mental to assume these f2p donkey brains are going to work together.

Which is why we never saw high level sombras use it in high level lobbies as an escape. Right?

Emphasizing again: I dont think sombra was OP, i think she was UP. But translocator, even at high levels of play, was a good escape.

I’m old, but I remember Doomfist having needle-size Punch and literally everyone stopped playing Doomfist and they had to fix a ton of things and make it actually punch after since they had to deal with ghost punching even. People were like “hooray, punch takes more skill” and it was basically gg if you had Doomfist back then as a DPS.

This Sombra rework is making this similar exact mistake and it’s gonna have repercussions, bet Blizzard reverts half of these and make her in a worse state in less than 2 weeks, they’ve done that a few times. We’ll see tomorrow, but I expect this whole thing to be horrible and Sombra games are going to be horrible.

There’s like no direction to those changes, it’s like a massive power down, not even a power shift, she didn’t get compensated properly.

Get ready for a future patch where they buff her lethality otherwise.

Nah, make it a burn effect but call it “tetanus”.
