these bloody creatures can’t conjure the smallest amount of teamplay in them,
when it’s 6DPS and not working, they just continue playing 6DPS of something called “the dying simulator”,
and it’s just so weird playstyle, you get owned, you respawn, you get owned, you respawn,
where’s all the counterswappers that are so eager to counterswap the raidboss?
where have they gone? why are people so motivated to pick all possible heroes to counter tank in OW2, but when in OW Classic, there’s a Widow or something dominating the game, nobody picks Winston, nobody.
and of course, related to this, don’t get me started on matchmaking

The fact you actually got a guaranteed team comp every match. That was the biggest reason i personally wanted it and was one of the people asking for it a year before they eventually added it.
I was the one person on the team who actually would flex and fill whatever we needed. But I was only 1 player. I could not play both solo support and solo tank simultaneously for my 5 instalock dps. A lot of my matches were decided in the spawn room and the game was largely unplayable. Role queue actually made the game have a level of much needed consistency and anyone who argues against role queue simply has no idea what the game was
Of course role queue also had many other benefits such as preventing the tank and support heavy comps that were ruining the top level of the game
If players could be trusted to make a decent team comp, role queue would never have needed to exist. But the devs and playerbase were naive back then to think people would actually work together. Now we know differently and the game would be entirely unplayable without it
It still works even if we lose it has little to do with needing a tank.
Let people just play what they want , forcing a tank then not having heals or a low healmlike zen and making that player feel bad is worse.
If you get a nice comp fine otherwise just go with the flow.
Yesterday me with 5 bastions , I was in hanzo made enemy tanks rage quit.
Today same with a team of hanzos and one mercy I somehow convinced to help us from previous game.
The game before we had a great comp rein zarya normal stuff if there is a conducive environment i all gladly support it as support or rein otherwise just go with the flow.
The game was balanced for all these stuff and it works.
What they need to do is add a proper lfg and clan system to help oq or hybrid q.
I wanted to do some of the challenges, and had to do them solo. Solo heals while everyone and their mother chases you, while getting zero support from your team, is not fun.
This is why I say the game was never fun, just addictive
This happens in regular OW as well
People don’t want to help do the thing, they want to be the main character. And OWC ruleset(or whatever you want to call the jumble of age that it is) helps everyone get a nice spoon of that.
I point to Doom being such a popular tank despite everyone seeming to play him horribly. They want to DPS, not tank. And when Doom works, it just feels like you had an extra DPS with a beefy health bar.

Yeah i pretty much agree with this. Because its a gimmicky event mode I dont see any harm in it or for this complaint post to exist.
Personally I understand with OP and too do not enjoy playing in those games where you are forced to solo support or tank for 5 dps. But the simple answer is to not queue for the classic mode if you dont enjoy that
Which would be my advice for OP. If he isnt enjoying the possibility of those 5 dps games, just don’t queue for the mode. That is what the mode is supposed to be about
If they started making the whole game like this then Id speak against it but because I simply do not enjoy the fact I may get those 5 dps teams, I just dont play the mode

Not every mode needs to appeal to everyone and its frankly stupid seeing so many people posting things like ‘this is how the entire game should be’
No it isnt. Because not everyone wants to play this type of Overwatch. If you enjoy it that’s great. You stay there and play ow classic. If its popular they’ll keep it around. Meanwhile I’ll go play my match with role queue as thats what I enjoy more and we both win?
You dont have to play 5v5 RQ if you dont want to. Open queue is always a thing and theyre bringing back 6v6. I on the other hand much prefer the curated experience of what RQ offer
If I won a game in OW2 but I'm left mentally exhausted and feel like I worked for 2 extra hours after my shift is over versus I lost it in OWC but I laughed my @ss off when I managed to pull off that "basketball of death" Sym turrets "strat" = I will go lose it in OWC 50 times again. And then again.
That was one of my main reasons why I eventually stopped disliking the 222 change
honestly it goes to show, some playerbase issues and some wrong catering from devs,
like this Classic gamemode, who do you think are the 6 DPS players? the old players or the average spoiled OW2 players?
I won a game off of being the only tank and having 5 Widows, we held for quite a long time before my teammates finally switched at the 3rd checkpoint because defending with 5 Widows is just not happening…
you are right, but the freedom to run 5DPS exacerbates this issue, and it’s clearly stemming from the average OW2 player attitude towards teamplay: close to none…
oh yeah I love gimmicky events, where people have sub 1000 damage on DPS, against people that are either a stack or bunch of higher skilled players…

the only comback you get is through the fact you are not locked in a role, but if your team doesn’t start playing, there’s not much you can do, 6v6 is more team focused and some people are just the opposite of that…
I don’t even blame ppl for wanting to just dps on launch patch. Maaaaaaybe tank. But man having 3 support options? One falls over from any dmg, and the other 2 just feel super clunky since they are missing their movement they had for many years. Yea I’ll pass on being support.
A lot of players are playing just for fun.
OWC is not competitive matches, so you have a wide range of player skill/rank in the same lobby (pretty sure it’s just like qp and you can have anything from Bronze to GM in the same lobby).
Add in competitive and it would change everything. Players of lower skill will more likely play poor comps with heavy DPS comps, high skill players will play better comps (zero or hardly any DPS).
This is also OWC with no hero limits, no role queue, a lot less characters to choose from.
Once these changes come into play, you won’t have 6 dps on one team. You won’t have crazy skill differences like one does in QP if you are playing comp.
I swear you are going to step by step turn this into OW2 if you could.
“Owc is great buuut, zen needs more health? Buff dva mayrix, lets get ana and moira, fix mei, fix ultimate cast times…introduce 222…introduce old orisa…old doom…old sombra…sigma…” etc, all the way up to where we are now.
Just play the game or dont,
btw the 6dps are loving their time and having a lot of fun. Maybe thats why they play it. To have fun.
Loosen up and try it. You might even have fun while losing instead of being angered even when winning.
