hello fellow overwatchers. ive been noticing a lot of threads lately about the rising levels of “toxicity” where they have a lot of griefers or people shouting obscenities in their matches out of pure rage. theres no need to report someone. instead you could be more nice and say instead “well theres no need for that, is there” and you can also say “try to focus on the game its ok”. another idea is to focus on what the other persons angry about and try to remedy it like if theyre mad at another player try to address that player to change their style or suggest an alternative that keeps everyone happy.
ok so the important part of this topic. i also notice people getting banned for cussing. its not okay to cuss, people have feelings. but it is ok to call people names because someone people can be poopyheads! so i have arranged a list of words you can use to show your anger next time youre in a game instead of using cuss words. remember, cuss words are no-no words. we dont want people cussing in our games because it makes us mad and we want to be happy people. so look at the list below and try to use these alternative cuss words:
instead of ngger, say nickel
Instead of faot, say person of same sexual interest of their own gender
instead of fk, say fudge (if youre trying to say shut the f**k up, i suggest instead to say shut the front door)
instead of btch, say beeswax
instead of sh!t, say shoot
instead of a$$, say booty
those are just some suggestions i could come up with, try to experiment with different words so you can vent out your anger and at the same time say some funny words to call people that will make them laugh. trust me, in the long run people will find you a more likeable person when you dont use swear words, it gives you a better image. plus you feel better by not swearing. most importantly, people wont feel the need to report you if youre not cussing at them! so i hope this topic was of some usefulness to the swearing poopyheads out there and if you have any suggestions or comments please post them down below! thank you
I can’t tell for certain if OP is serious or not. OP, if you’re serious about reducing toxicity, simply replacing swear words with alternatives doesn’t solve the problem. It’s the equivalent of covering your dirty floor with a nice looking rug instead of cleaning the floor.
As a society we need to get over this idea that everyone should just bottle up their emotions and never show them. Instead, we need to focus on how to not get angry enough to swear in the first place.
swearing isn’t inherently a problem, usually its fine, abuses based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality etc is an entirely different issue and needs to result in instant bans, even if no slurs are used
People swear allll the time on this game. It’s just what they heard, and use. Most of the man children are inherently immature at times, (i.e. Mercy’s moist) so it is impossible.
As Orion said ^, your essentially saying the same thing. All your doing is converting a Granny Smith apple to a Honey Crisp. Sure it’s sweeter, but it’s still an apple.
Words don’t hurt anyone.
The context behind them does.
My best friend tells me to fk off and calls me a bch all the time. We both laugh afterwards.
Also censorship is never really a viable option for solving toxicity.
