He was easily one of the most balanced heroes in the game, where his weaknesses were easily exploitable, but his strengths made him solid.
Do not allow the fact that I have a Zen Profile Picture and the fact that Zenyatta is my most played Hero show that I have bias for the character. The only reason I have so much time on Zen is due to the time spent trying to get Rapid Discord, and I just love the Cultist skin.

No, I am simply an Achievement Ho who just thinks Cultist is the best skin in the game. Looking at my other Top 5 Heroes will show the other Heroes I spent the most time trying to get Achievements for. Mainly Orisa and Doomfist.
Sombra and Lucio are also in my top 5, but because I really enjoy playing them and I consider them more my mains than Zen.
He is still balanced. Just Discord is weaker for your teammates, it dont affect his damage. Also shooting trough Bappy window… Crispy dings.

Well, he’s been meta for a VERY long time. I’m sure he’ll be fine, the nerfs weren’t too harsh.

Hes not being nerfed, only players on his team are
Damage of zen with discord (live)
46 + 30% = 59.98 -> 60
Damage of zen with discord (PTR)
48 + 25% = 60

They didn’t nerf Zen directly. His damage is exactly the same.
The team value for discord orb is slightly lower though.

It is like…30 to 25 percent? Like 5% nerf. Not too bad for one of the basic utility supports had.
Not to mention that his damage against discorded targets remains the same.

Old Zen would deal 0.4 less damage to discorded target for a bodyshot.

He’s part of GOATS, therefore he has to be nerfed, like the rest of that comp, because blizzard are desperate.
Also possible they want to make Baptiste enticing, so are downgrading his opposition.
But that’s Old Zen. That’s why they bumped his damage to 48
To be fair Zen is the only character to be meta as long as Lucio and both are getting toned down for the team power but keeping similar self power

Zen got compensation, but discord enabled goats.
Alright, let me just explain my maths.
Old Zen = 46 x 1.3 = 59.6
New Zen = 48 x 1.25 = 60
I saw other people mention GOATS, so I won’t get into that, but I think he might also be getting a slight debuff nerf because of Baptiste and the abilities he brings; shooting a Discorded person through Baptiste’s ult wall while being immortal seems like overkill.
Whenever they nerf Zen it’s done in a way that makes him feel the same so don’t worry.
For example when discord was nerfed from 50 to 30% they buffed the orbs so his DPS was the same. They’re doing this again with the 25% nerf. When they nerfed his alt fire it was only to the fire rate and not the damage so he keeps the same overall damage.
Not many heroes get the same treatment.
That’s a good thing. 0.4 more damage means a lot when considering headshots
At least you got compensation buffs, unlike Brigitte.
