There really should be a character who is a caricature narcissist

When I think “narcissist”, I think Draven from League of Legends, Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat, Charles Kane from Citizen Kane, and various Disney villains like Gaston, Frollo, the Evil Queen (from Snow White), and Scar.

To summarize, a character who is vain as a peacock. Someone who is literally in love with themselves, presents themselves as perfect, and expects you to agree.

"But there’s already-"

  • D.Va doesn’t count, as whenever she does those things it’s just an act for her fans. Shooting Star proves she’s actually a hard worker and friendly with others.
  • Genji doesn’t count, as he’s not even close to self-worshiping. He’s cocky, but he definitely doesn’t see himself as perfection.
  • Moira doesn’t count, as she’s also not self-worshiping. She’s a sociopath and obsessed with science regardless of ethics, but she’s not a narcissist.
  • Symmetra comes close, but doesn’t quite fit the criteria since she’s not self-worshiping nor does she expect others to worship her. She just upholds Vishkar’s ideals of Order and conformity.

Symmetra seems a bit narcissist to me.

But I mean… who wouldn’t be narcissist if they were Symmetra?
She’s just so gorgeous and amazing at everything.

Yeah, as that guy said I’d say Symmetra fits that definition pretty well I think. She tends to be a little full of herself (and she has the right to be tbh).

The problem with making caricatures like this is that they’ll just be one dimensional. Flanderisation doesn’t always work. Especially for an overwatch character. It’d get boring and annoying pretty fast.

I would love to see someone along the lines of Johnny (Mortal Kombat), Johnny (Guilty Gear) or Johnny (Johnny Bravo). Such a fun personality type that is missing from Overwatch.

He cracked me up. I loved his latest lines in MK. Would be hilarious if there was a narcissist.

As much as Symmetra comes close, she isn’t self-worshiping. She’s arrogant, expects people to follow Vishkar’s designs on Order, but I wouldn’t consider her “vain as a peacock” even if she has a Peacock-colored skin.

Personally when i think Narcissist i think Narcissus From greek mythology but that’s just me, but i think you have a valid point

well, almost are of overwatch’s characters are have some bases in archetypes, while not are Flanderization, its not far. E.g.
Genji-Anime Ninja
Sym-Zealot
Junkrat-insane arsonist
Reaper-Psychopath
Soldier-Soldier
Moria-Amoral scientist
etc

i would argue that she is a zealot, and see’s herself as doing her part to restore peace through VishKar’s design

We already have narcissists in Overwatch. It’s the insta-lock Genji/Widowmaker players that are trapped in Gold.

I’d modify that to any insta-lock regardless of character.
But that’s not a character…

Though hmmmm… a narcissist would have to be something like a Hollywood actor or something hmmmm…

Reminds me of agents of mayhem… on of the character there is a bit of a narcissistic action star who’s abilities center around special effect and the like…

So something like that…
