There needs to be wayyy less endorsements going around

3 per person per game is crazy. People just throw out Good Teammate and Sportsmanship to anybody who wasn’t outright toxic. You get endorsed so frequently and for so little reason that it basically means nothing.

Good idea for the game, but way overkill right now.

Does it matter? If everyone is being less toxic to get them then it’s still a good system, I’ve been giving them to the enemy team a lot of the time simply for being good sports about games.

I’m sure out of 11 people at least 3 are worth commending every game.

For a game that has such high toxicity levels, just not being toxic is more than enough.

It’s pretty unlikely that you’ll have any reason to commend your opponents. You CAN, if you want to, but you don’t know what they are saying in Team, good or bad.

It doesn’t matter if I don’t know, I’ve had enemy teams nearly completely leave and I commended the people who stayed in that knowing they had no chance of winning.

There’s plenty worth commending on both sides and leavers aren’t entirely uncommon so that at the very least has been the top reason for me.

This makes me thinking. Imagine if the enemies say 'gg ez" in general chat and then one of the randomly generated lines appear so the guy thinks that other person was actually trying to be nice.

Yeah sure, let’s punish people for being positive. Why reward players for having good sportsmanship and not being totally toxic? There’s wayyy too much positivity right now!

I actually thought 1 would have been enough. I think in League of Legends it’s 1 endorsement, and because of that I actually thought about who on my team I wanted to give it to as a result and not just kind of eyeball it.

However, when it comes to the enemy team, and in situations like you mentioned, that makes a lot of sense.

Why are you so toxic that you respond to positive reinforcement in a negative way ?

When there’s people who feel the need to have to complain about the amount of positivity in a video game, I start to worry.

that sounds like something i would say, the right amount of sarcasm

Try to imagine being the type of person to see someone else get praise and immediately thinking “wow, that was so uncalled for, they really shouldn’t have been praised; I’d better make a thread about how too many players are getting pats on the back for their gameplay”.

After pulling yourself out of the subsequent, self-loathing depression that’s sure to follow such a thought experiment, realize that OP is a clown.

That was so beautifully written that I couldn’t resist giving you a like. +1

Honestly we’re all nice people, most of us. The toxic people were the loud ones. So we stayed quiet thinking there were more toxic people than there actually are, allowed them to take the entire spotlight, and became even more convinced everyone is toxic.

What this system has done is brought the rest of us out the woodwork, by encouraging us and rewarding us for being good sports and good teammates. Suddenly we come face to face with so many others just like us and realize we’re not alone, which encourages us even further!

It’s a breath of fresh air. The more commendations, the better!

I had a comp match where we basically joked around in VC and actually won. Gave two the good teammate and one the shot caller, I thought all 3 deserved the endorsing.

Endorsements isn’t a top of the crop reward system. It’s not looking for the masters equivalent of endorsement worthy people, everyone is meant to be a part of it every time they play rather than only when they pull something amazing off. I detailed what the seeming purpose of it is here:

https ://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/t/endorsements-have-ruined-being-genuinely-nice/139380/58?u=haven-21577

It’s more meaningful for the general playerbase to feel welcome every time they play rather than make the esports of endorsements. On average there’s more than 3 people on allied and enemy team that had a noticeable impact in the game for me.

I personally haven’t endorsed anyone I didn’t think deserved it, and don’t think I’ve gotten any undeserved ones.

how do y’all find something wrong when blizzard implements something good like the endorsement system.

it’s encouraging people to be nice and my teams have been lovely and actually nice. whether it’s fake or not, I don’t care. I’d rather have fake niceness than toxicity
