I mean, I remember when she was reworked and how people said she would “finally” be skilled. With the Mercy fallout fresh in my mind I knew it would only last a few weeks at most, and lo and behold. The perception of her and her mains are too ingrained to change at this point.

Why does nobody complain about Torb? He’s aalot more stronger and so is his turret.

Honestly? Get rid of the turrets.
It’s what makes her so hated and keeps her in trash because if you buff her, she dominates lower tiers.
I know sym mains will hate me for saying this. But I just can’t see her being a strong, decent hero with her turrets…

There is only one queen of england for example and for whatever they are the queen of they are the highest tier possible. And I’m mostly hearing sym mains calling her a queen rarely for mei as ice queen and pretty much never someone else.
Also a hard vibe I’m getting from most sym reworks is not to make her more powerful but to get her in a busted state so she is full meta and 100%pickrate. Not every buff thread of course but a lot. D.Va Mains got the same issue.
even worse, pros and casters were and still kinda are apart of that. both players and even casters seemingly never will stop talking about sym from a “cheese” or “cancer” or “cheap” no matter how they play completely disregarding how other heroes can very well achieve what she does far more easily
e.g. use tp to duel or escape is somehow cheap but tracer doing the same thing with more flexibility and with a more reliable ranged weapon without delays is somehow “skilled” and not “cheese” or likewise various other heroes have instant escapes which are more reliable than using tp to escape but somehow they’re not “cheese”.

Ha ha ha… I do not make the rules. After you lose to this hero one too many times, you start feeling comfort in the fact that it will never get any worse.
Most syms have been saying, we would all gladly have power diverted from her turrets for a more powerful/consistent gun and or tp. We like having control and don’t pick sym just for auto aim turrets, we pick her bc of her flow, creativity, and the macro of her map interactions. Most of the sym community will agree that the turrets would be holding her back.
I personally don’t think she needs changes tho, except maybe a small flat buff like 2sec off tp cooldown.
Or even better. Just improve it’s coding so it doesn’t explode itself instantly 5% of the time for no discernable reason without even showing in the killfeed

I only really abuse her for the turrets and orb. I basically need nothing else to carry with her, but hey, the primary is nice for when they close the distance. If they got rid of it, pretty sure I could still dominate with her regardless though.
And I am on console, pretty sure the turrets are supposed to be weaker there, not that it realistically makes a difference. They still busted as hell.

Ah ok I play 3.85k on PC so my experience of turrets is gonna be very different. Its more about tp and wall as people get awareness. Turrets become way less relevant
Wall messes me up so hard. I am not going to lie, I have no clue how to use Symmetra and that obviously includes her ult and tp. So, that is the real reason I only orb and turret. But hey, it works.
I honestly wish they would buff her TP.
And maybe give her more builder options for her ult. Like she used to.have 2. Why not give her a couple to.choose from.

Basically you wanna think about who in the enemy team is the biggest threat and then neutralise/prevent their positional advantage with your cooldowns because you have the most buildables and can take your team anywhere
Wall you wanna cut against corners and punish their tanks for using resources basically, or panic walling is valid too like if they have flank hog or flank cree. It’s even possible to consistently wall an emp whilst being emped but it’s frame perfect and extremely difficult, I only know of one sym who can do it consistently lol
The optimum use of wall for example would be that you let them push in to you using all of their cooldowns and then diagonally wall through them into their retreat direction so you can crush them with no way for them to escape or stand their ground and not needing to use anything except the wall from your own team’s resources
Sym is about taking and controlling space more than getting kills imo
Like trying to tp bomb or burn their Frontline takes time and is risky giving their widow or doom time to work but if you camp their rollouts/high ground and use tp preset for their wincon like blade then even if you’re actively doing less you’re preventing them from accessing their winconditions? If that makes sense

While this might be true to an extent, the same can be said for any hero and their fan base. The Genji player community and their dislike for any support that can defend themselves or the “I need healing” stereotype is no better in that regard.
Furthermore, I doubt the “rest of the community” as a whole is so united and monotonous that they all think sym players who view her as a sassy queen are cringey. So while this might be your opinion, I doubt that it’s shared.
Most of it comes down to the fact that sym started out with an auto lock and that she has turrets. Because of those two things, she’ll forever be seen as “low skill” or “OP” somehow

On my main account i climbed out of silver with Sym … zero hate.
What I think the problem is, that sticking to a niche hero in a hardcore way, will get people triggered.
You can claim it is unfair because it doesnt happen with “generalists” but thats how it has to be: Niche heroes should be picked on specific situations.
When your team is getting crushed by a Pharah mercy or an Echo and tanks that blast Sym or get charge from Torb turret easy, then you are going to get hate.
So yeah, some people hate X heroes with a passion, sure … but denying that being OTPs is not the source of the hate in the first place and shifting the blame to hero bias, is DEFLECTING and denying reality.
The community’s attitude in general is just disgusting and delusional toward Sym. Especially the ones that call her braindead no aim even though she was reworked a second time to solve part of that but they can’t get it through their thick skulls.

OTPs exist for every hero.
And I don’t one trick sym, yet I get hate for playing her. I doubt that means I’m deflecting nor am I denying reality.
Not really. The Sym community has it’s memes but they’re extremely divided on opinions.
It’s a combination of needing to not care about what the team thinks to actually play an off meta character, and the inherent flaws of a character that more or less is designed to make both teams have to play differently.
