I agree with that tho, it would explain the button on his sword that he presses. Hanzo has no such ‘activation’ thing, he just, goes. But Genji has to ‘turn it on’, so to speak. He’s either had to relearn how to do it or he needs help to call his dragon.
It is also that Hanzo can summon them outside of his body, while Genji needs to become the Dragon aka serve as a host; also 2 Dragons vs 1 Dragon.
oh I like that interpretation!
It make sense - Genji ‘becomes’ the dragon and lets the energy flow through his body, while Hanzo commands his to go out and hunt.
I don’t think it would be in their weapons. I feel like the tattoo theory is pretty good. That it’s their Shimada clan tattoo that lets them summon the dragons.
why cant it just be that magic is JUST now being discovered via technological advancements and discovering new particles?
why does it solely have to be science? Why couldnt it just be the fact that no one discovered magic? That there were no witches, wizards, or magically inclined individuals in this world except that it did exist but no one actually was able to tap into it?
I genuinely dont understand the dislike for possible magic related things to be in this game.
Because the devs have repeatedly said that there is no magic, and that Overwatch is built on “firm sci-fi”.
magic can be sci-fi tbh
depends on how you impliment it.
Like “only this high tech deus ex machina can be used to make materials be created from thin air”
I feel there’s a strong distinction between magic and science. Magic is typically, “It happens just because,” with no explanation, or some sort of power gained through spiritual means, without the advancement of technology. Powers that are seemingly impossible, but have a scientific explanation or theory to them, (something like hard light), I don’t put that in the category of magic.
There’s a difference, in my opinion.
Overwatch has a power far greater then magic in my opinion, and that’s game logic.
For things like Zenyattas orbs, Jeff said somethings ‘just are’ for the sake of the game, meaning they have no logical or magical explanation, it might be reading too much into it, but i thinks it’s pretty cool.
Unlike Harmony/Discord orbs, Dragons are canon. They were in the short.
I’m really hoping they do use harmony and discord in a short they are literally half of Zenyattas set, cannon be damned.
It’s nanomachines.
It’s always nanomachines.
Arthur C. Clarke, significantly advanced technology, yada yada…
Nanomachines have never been mentioned in Overwatch lore.
My theory is that it comes from an omnic god program that shimada can access by ways of genetic code in their DNA in same vein Zenyatta can use his healing abilities via ‘the iris’
Its been proven that you could theoretically ‘copyright’ an artificially created humans DNA. All it would take is for a specific ‘trigger’ code within that structure that somehow comunicate to an Omnic God level program.
Alas theres still very little we know about this universe…
Quote from Michael Chu.
Maybe its not the right terminology, I had to think about that before I posted it because I remember him saying as much.
Maybe some S class Ai that we are unaware of. Dont get me wrong i love mystery and things not being explained but at this stage though we dont know anything. He didnt clarify whether there is stronger AI’s than anubis and he hasnt given us the actual pronoun to refer to them as either
The clarrification was in response to mass speculation about God Programs being responsible for everything in Overwatch. He didn’t have to clarify if there is anything stronger. As far as we know, there isn’t.
I always kinda thought of them more among the lines as an entity or something spiritual. Like along the lines of the Japanese Shinto beliefs. It’s not unheard of in stories to have a clan with a particular Kami.
Thats the whole point, as far as we know. We dont know what the iris is exactly either.
After Shibusawa using dragon punches in Yakuza Zero, I dont doubt that it is just Shimadas being amazing.
