I’m not arguing anything about how strong she is, or not. I am talking about supports leaving. So many games where there is a sombra supports leave after they have been hacked a few times and wiped. A new support joins, stays for less than 90 seconds then leaves. All because of sombra.
At higher levels she may not be a problem, but at low levels she hacks and kills, hacks and kills, over and over (yes, you get terrible players at low ranks who can’t manage it, but it’s not that hard with virus). Supports that do peel are generally not quick enough as sombra’s kill time is very low.
Why do they not use leaver stats to better understand which heroes are bad for the game? Especially now that they have a penalty to make people a little more reluctant to leave. That will often mean their leaving is more valuable when applying it to statistical analysis.
Sombra TTK isn’t that low. Ashe dynamite is more powerful.
Sombra is only as strong as you let her be. She is really easy to outheal. And much easier to chase down. You just actually have to do it.
Lucio used to be countered by Sombra. Now he’s one of the best against her because he can chase her down and punish her after she teleports
Some supports refuse to adapt and want to play the same way in every situation. Like an ana/zen/bap who plays far away to snipe heal… Well you can’t do that against Sombra unless your sleeps/aim are good. You’re gonna have to play with your team.
Just looking at your healer, especially as the other healer when Sombra announces thru her mega speakers that she’s dropping out of invis, just that act alone makes her almost useless.
But yes, lower levels get stuck in their own world. This shouldn’t be a sign to nerf a character. It should be a wake up call to improve. Not everything should be pandered to those who don’t know how to play
Dynamite after impact does 100 dmg over 5 seconds = 20 dps
Virus on normal target does 100 dmg over 4 seconds = 25 dps
Virus on hacked target does 100 dmg over 2 seconds = 50 dps
Virus on a hacked target is a death sentence on a squishy not at full health, or who isn’t getting peels, or who can’t self heal. Having two seconds to duel is faster than MOIRA can kill.
Well, yea but the difference is there is no hero that counters Sombra. The best counter is another teammate nearby to peel.
Put another way, if you are the Sombra player, your skill is capped to a point and made irrelevant if another teammate was nearby with loud enough headphones. I think that “save or suck” kind of gameplay stinks.
If sombra wants to make the dot into a semi burst she has to flank, take the time to hack, then now hit a virus on a frantically ad strafing target who is now trying to a) kill you b) run away. You also give more time for their healer to react.
All for… 100 damage.
If you played both sides of the spectrum youd know hack virus is rarely used, especially on supports.
Also the fact that time is a more valuable resource for a sombra who has to play independently than ashe.
Also the aim difficulty of virus vs dynamite
Also the different in hitbox of virus vs dynamite allowing dynamite to be used much more dynamically.
We can debate whether she’s problematic or not all day long.
But if she scares players off from the game (which the OP is claiming, I can’t say one way or the other) than she’s a problem regardless of anything else people might say.
Dont stand still or walk in a straight line or jump without purposr (i say this but it wont work seeing the history of players in this game)
Watch a different angle from your main.
If you or your team is too incompetent you can swap to: (to name 1 example for two situations depending on your partner) brig if your partner dps is high value, and kiri in general.
Every character has issues with another character in the roster. Why is it valid that some players think they can stay on one hero for the entire match and get the same amount of value? You either swap or dont swap, adjust, and try to provide similiar value.
The only issue in situations like these are when adjustments are a)impossible or b)possible but it means providing negative value i.e winston bastion, tracer illiari, (new) sombra widow, junk pharah, etc etc etc.
Biggest problem I have with Sombra is its really tedious/tiring to have to constantly look behind you as DPS or support to help teammates with Sombra for the entire game.
All the other flanking heroes have sound queues that let you know to look for them before they actually start doing damage… Sombra can just appear in your backline and erase someone before the sound queues even done.
I don’t think the new Sombra is overpowered… I just wish the infinite stealth aspect of her kit would have been eliminated.
Her ttk consistently is that low on 1 hero in the game and thats widow because a)her positioning and b)her ads penalties
Every other hero in the game (im excluding tanks because sombras squishy killing ttk is irrelevant there) has the ability to adjust to her theoritical ttk without significantly losing value (i added the last part because genius forum players will then tell me widow can just not scope and smg all game in melee range with their team).
If you die to sombra solo and you arent widow you 100% had the chance the outplay it while still providing reasonable value and its on you.
this is fraudulent! Kiriko makes sombra useless, Moira can literally chase her and kill her any time she engages. She’s the best answer to sombra cause she has self cleanse, self heal, on 2 abilities, and damage that’s easy to be consistent with. Only BAD moiras who don’t use their brains will lose a sombra 1v1. never cleanse a hack always cleanse the virus, hold right click on her and chase.
As far as other chars go, any character with mobility is her counter. If you can chase her it’s over.
Ur second point is correct, if your team is not brainless and actually turns around for a second to provide support to whoever she’s targeting she’s even more useless than she was before cause EMP is the only way she can get value and atm EMP sucks!
