The developer team briefly mentioned balance changes aimed at the new format experiments. Since these formats are either 6v6 role queue or varied open queue its only fair if all of them run on the exact same balance patch.
Being on the same patch gives them all the most fair shot but most importantly is their best chance at truly “redefining the sequel”
They need to get rid of the role passives.
They need to revert the season 9 health changes.
Most importantly they finally need to addres the problematic hero designs.
No more hiding behind 5v5 to solve oppressive tank designs like roadhog, sigma and orisa.
No more ignoring brig, bap, weaver, moira and kiriko.
Truly try to cut down on actually oppressive one shots like widow and hog.
Truly try to fix the CC stacking. Getting rid of hack, hinder and mei slow.
They need to get rid of the pile of dirty clothes the old team left behind. They need a true fresh start. No matter the format if balance isnt addressed it wil be a massive flop.
Im going to give them another try.
Il do my best to forget the past if they make the future bright.
For the first time… ever i might truly have faith in the devteam.
“Dont mess it up this time” is my only message to the team right now.
Not saying they should. But i do know that 5v5 was from the ground up meant to be an easy fix for the “oppressive tank design”. So all i want them to do is take responsibility for the mess that created and air out that 6 year old dirty laundry
I think it was the other way around, They didn’t want tanks to be more oppressive, and were ALREADY losing tank players on mass, so they couldn’t afford to buff them.
5v5 was their out.
I think you are pretty safe. They are not going to basically 1/2 tank power in current 5v5 as part of this experiment.
Isnt the exact same argument ow1 players had lol “i spent 60$ on the game and now its f2p i want my money back” they didnt tell us 5v5 would be a thing until 6 years in lol and the reception was super poor yet they did it anyway. Another reason the old team was garbage.
A bit of both i think. Keep in mind this came from the devteam that thought double main tank was oppressive thats why i have faith in the new team at least theyre trying to communicate with the players. They need to pull a wow classic here.
Most likely thing happening is 5v5 and 6v6 role queue. Allthough it all depents on player reaction. I also think that the open queue modes will not be recieved well. Role queue is just simply a luxury that comes at the cost of queue times. Thats just a fact that i think the playerbase and devs need to accept
Max 3 min 1 sounds significantly better imo. Allows for some structure and some match variety. Its the best of both worlds between open and role queue.
I really hope they do address all of these things.
I don’t expect too much with heroes for the test, just because I think some of them need bigger changes than simple number ones and I don’t think they’d be able to do that for this.
But if they do decide to bring a 6v6 mode fully back to the game then… yeah, absolutely!
teams would be shooting themselves in the foot if they ran 3 dps and a solo tank, im pretty sure that the first tests in 6v6 wont have that much balance changes aside from just lower hp, so its almost guaranteed to be something like 3-1-2
If you pay in this game then you’re an idiot. One day you will have your account locked and you won’t be able to do anything about it thanks to the subjective Terms of Service. They can choose to do it at any moment for any reason, they refuse to send chat logs, they refuse to explain what you did. Blizzard is as disgusting as Discord with their suspensions where they give you a list of reasons you could have violated, to keep you guessing.
If it was always that than OQ would be nothing but tanks. Doesn’t matter if its optimal, people will play what they find fun, you will rarely if ever see 3-1-2 every match. Even in OQ you rarely see it.
