Idk how devs keep saying that they pick tanks from the same skill and rank. Either you are lying, or your algorithms cannot comprehend what is “equal” skill. And I am not just blaming my tank, the enemy tanks are often bad too.
P.S the comments are way too braindead, so I have to explain I guess. Apparently bad tanks don’t exist, it’s always the dps fault (holy s…t this OW comm is killing me, annihilating my last brain cell).
Very often I will see one tank clearing space, pushing for key points on the map, peeling for support, playing behind covers and etc, while the other tank just standing in the mid, 0 natural cover, eating all the possible damage in the world, and just randomly pressing buttons, playing a video game. Nothing more.
Sometimes it’s less “tank diff” and more counter pick diff.
If I were to go up against a Zarya that is as good a player as me, I simply lose unless by some miracle my supports find a way to pump heals into me without dying.
I find that my games have had far less difference in skill between me and the enemy tank as of the last patch that addressed that specifically.
Depends on the rank. You can climb from Bronze to Plat just by spamming heals on the tank with ana and never letting him die. But after that, no heal can outheal damage. Damage is always more.
I hate getting blamed when we lose an entire point because team mates were in terrible positions.
Like no, you dying because you stood out in the open on low ground does not mean I am getting countered and need to swap.
Then you have the team that doesn’t even play with the tank but expects you to push in somehow… Just ugh. I literally turn around to make sure they’re following me and then suddenly they’re gone.
I get that your tank won’t always make the “right” decisions but you should always follow them unless you would benefit from playing at an off angle or flanking.
Sometimes tanks do badly because their dps can’t kill anything, they’re not getting enough heals, or the enemy team is hard focusing them. (Or they have the w key held down)
Sometimes dps do badly because their tanks feed and hold down the W key or their supports are only hard focusing on healing the tank. (Or they’re just too blood thirsty with bad positioning)
Sometimes supports do badly because they get no peels and have braindead tanks and dps. (Or they’re braindead heal bots that contribute little else to the fight)
Sometimes it really is your teammates dragging you down, but sometimes it’s just an excuse.
you are reducing a 30 variable problem into 1 and wonder why from your perspective it does not work.
maybe the supporting abilities to cover are not there, maybe one team counterpicked the enemy tank, maybe the dps didnt finish off the essenctial kill the tank or support set up. there is a lot of variables, and to say that it is tank diff without looking at all of them and eliminating them first is like looking who did the most damage this round to determine who will win the next 3 games.
basically it changes game to game and while the two tanks maybe the same rank it doesnt mean the battlefield is equal.
You have to understand that team compo is a huge factor too, not only individual skill. Why sometimes the first round is a mess and second round enemy team is doomed after some switches ? Or why sometimes the robot is 10 meters from your spawn and on the other side at the end of the game after some switches ?
This is the beauty of this game, you don’t just need skill or aim, you need to know some characters to switch if needed and counter.
And this is a team game so let’s stop this blaming someone thing. Sometimes yeah, the tank is just bad because he wanted to complete his three all roles challenges but it’s still just a game.
There’s always going to be a diff every match. It could come from any role. It doesn’t matter if everyone is the same exact skill level. The reality is someone is going to get outplayed. No one will play their best every match.
Some of you just have unrealistic expectations where you think you are entitled to win more than you do and look for excuses instead of learning to accept a loss.
Yerp had a JQ game were the team treated me like a dps, and refused to push with me. Then I got rolled every fight, my team kept saying tank Diff as if I was the blame when I couldn’t hold. Like the team was fallowing a random bastion into a different flank. after I Tripple checked they were behind me.
This is true, though there are other ways your supports can and should generate value to help enable your tank.
I honestly think tank can be hard to gage when it is actually a tank diff, or something else is going on. Sometimes it’s obvious (like a rein charging into narnia on repeat) but I am mostly concerned with my own gameplay (usuaully support) and don’t care so much about who diffed who, rather how can I improve my own play.
Tanks at plat and below have a thankless job. Most of the supports down there DPS way too much and DPS have trouble getting kills and staying alive. THere is a marked difference in supports from diamond up. I dont really care at Diamond if my DPS arent doing much, but I will die alot and have less impact if my supports arent healing me. Thankfully that doesnt happen that much
A tank performing overly well is normally more a symptom of their team playing well. Not always of course, but a tank is basically the health bar of the team, if the team does well they just have more resources.
If you’ve got the better support and dps it’s kind of easy to win even against a better tank player.
