The survivability buffs Sym needs (not 250hp)

Teleporter
Cooldown now starts on deployment and freezes halfway at 6 seconds. When it’s destroyed, the cooldown continues.

Now activates in 1.5 seconds instead of 2. this is key

New Passive: Improved Shielding
Symmetra’s shield hp now regenerates after one second of not taking damage, instead of 3.

Head hitbox reduction
Her head hitbox is massive and maybe should be looked at.

Basically these buffs provide more tp uptime, and better dynamic tp use. Speeding it up by half a second will improve the ability to escape.

This rewards a more active in-n-out playstyle and doesn’t just tack hp onto Sym which would be kind of a bandaid.

Also Sym used to be the queen of shields so let’s give her some respect.

hitting breakpoints at 250 isn’t a “bandaid”

it lets her take 2 of her own, symmetra orbs, to her face
it lets her last almost another second against winston tickle
it lets her live through a body shot+headshot from mccree
2 hanzo body shots

etc,etc,etc,etc,etc,etc

it’s better to get healed with 250 health, than have a passive regen that doesn’t tick while taking damage, for mid-fight sustain

EHP vs passive regen would be the difference between a team-play base change for a melee range hero and a solo flanker change, and she shouldn’t be “just another flanker”

but i also wouldn’t disagree with 1s for her shield, in place of it

any buff sounds good right now

Maybe Band-Aid is the wrong word and you have good points but I don’t think it would address a lot of her concerns. She’s still outranged hilariously easy, still has a clunky tp, etc.

I mean, obviously I would very much like 250 hp, but the hitbox argument is legitimate.

I also think we may need to look at her massive head hitbox… Actually I’m going to add that to my OP.

Sym’s turrets pub-stomp at gold and below MMR. She probably has the highest win-rate there. It would be hard to buff her without making her win-rate skyrocket to 80+% in those brackets.

Nerf the turrets then lol idc, they’re not great higher up. She’d need more buffs than this in exchange though. (which I’m fine with)

i mean, shorter regen wouldn’t change it that much, either

the only benefit is poking

but… we all know how poking can go

and plus, you aren’t even charging your healers ult, only your enemies, if you’re just regening your own shield

better breakpoint management, like double body shot hanzo/some falloff from hitscans, would help her get to safety/even avoid bursts if she really had the time to set up teleporter to leave

that’s still a burst-focused situation, and more health would be stronger over regen

i’d agree if she could… move

but she kind of can’t

she has nothing to protect her health with, while any other 250 hp heroes either have i-frames, instant escapes, simply better escapes, or mobility

so, fat hitbox 250 hp heroes get defense

she gets a slim hitbox to have 250 hp

sounds fair

i… always forget that’s a thing…

yea… i kinda wish they were reworked somehow to fit both high and low tiers…
just literally have no clue how that’s even possible
even if they didn’t deal damage, just utility bots would be fine, something more than just reconnaissance

Something like… keep the slow, lower the damage a bit, and mark enemies for your team while they’re on someone. (basically while the turret is beaming someone, they are seen through walls by the team…like a real sentry)

This makes them great anti flank tools.

I mean I’m personally in agreement with the 250 hp thing in a way. The no panic button thing does justify it in a way but I know damn well that they’ll never give it to her because of the hitbox so I kind of don’t fight it.

i’d question how that would work at lower ranks, then
if it’s mostly for snaring and reconnaissance, then i’m not sure how much they can abuse it, unless it’s super slow

and at that point, if it’s just fitted for higher-tiers… then it just… swapped places
and at that point, why even try going for the same theme

EEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHH

i’m not going to blindly accept trash
it’s why i buy games and support games

so that they make them better

if i’m gonna be bitter, i’m getting my full point across

they either need to step up and admit the absolute garbage that is doomfist/hanzo/etc, or at least power creep more frequently if they can’t actually balance it so that other heroes have time to shine every so often to at least stir up meta picks so games aren’t literally the exact same heroes being in the gutter for months to years

Problem is there’s definitely thinly veiled bias from them when it comes to balancing.

There are heroes that they don’t mind being op for a long time. (Hanzo)

And there are heroes that, if they possibly become viable, is a crisis. (Symmetra)

It’s hilariously obvious at this point.

That’s why I think the turrets shouldn’t be touched at all and instead increase her lvl 1 beam damage and better improve her survivability in the ways OP mentioned. Give more power to the player instead of auto aim deployment.

Your suggestions are really good because they’re subtle, utility-driven, and don’t change her raw hp or M1 damage - creep she/thegame just doesn’t need. Probably the best/modest suggestions in a while. People begging for 300hp and M1 lasors really misunderstand.

But overwall I still feel like no urgent buffs needed - because she is still completely fine as an in/out enabler. Plus, I want them working on other things.

And if we wait until 3dps is a thing we both know she will shine.

I think her sentry should work differently this time around, rework it so it only slow target and gives wall hack, remove the damage and boom no more oppressive to the lower rank thinggy!

And to compensate for her turret damage removal is to make her beam more stronger and reliable

Make it 15 m range and starts at 120/160/195
Make the beam thinner and boom more skillful yet dangerous weapon at her effective range.

In light of McCree’s PTR buff, this needs to be discussed more.

i love these. they arent too oppressive but can still make a difference
