Many overwatch players have continued to support Blizzard/Overwatch for years on end. We have created communities, competed in Leagues, made lifelong friends, and learned valuable skills thanks to all of these.
The current state of Overwatch is poor. The vast majority of players are unhappy. From Bronze to Top 500, people have complained and opened tickets about how recent changes have hurt the game we fell in love with. Of course, some things can’t be resolved and will happen in any game with a competitive mode. Things like players being AFK and throwing, life happening and someone having to leave a comp match because of IRL issues, it happens.
Roles and characters have been overtuned in the name of balance, but in reality, all it does is create more imbalance between the roles. Due to this imbalance roles no longer function as they were meant to and sometimes we see that vast imbalance in the game when you can tell a game shouldn’t have ended the way it did. Overwatch devs and leadership claimed to be more open with communicating with the community and listening to problems we have with the game. Changes are made that only benefit low ranks, while other times changes make some characters completely unstoppable in high ranks.
The Overwatch leadership doesn’t seem to have any idea what the true players want.
Lastly my opinion: I have played the game since 2018. In Overwatch 1 my peak was diamond and in Overwatch 2 my peak has also diamond. I have played on both console and PC. Also being champion of multiple tiers of competition in different leagues. I am unhappy. I used to be a full flex player able to play any role and almost any character. I no longer want to play any of the roles and I no longer play this game to climb the ranks, I play to see the changes in hopes that the game I fell in love with will return and make a comeback.
