Sombra as a character should never exist in OW, an invisible character that plays the way she does was a mistake through and through.
Like DPS doomfist, it just shouldn’t have happened.
And now that she’s permabanned, it’s one of the most satisfying things ever.
Thank you hero bans.

The Sombra banning is silly to me. I think it shows that, regardless of effectiveness, people have no tolerance for anything that makes it harder for them to stack up and play low-effort poke war from safety. Sombra makes you look in other directions and pay attention, so she’s obviously the devil.
It’s the same reason we lost 2CP maps. Those maps incentivized executing interesting plays over low-effort poke war. And it’s why payload is so popular. People like to poke from behind the safety of the mobile cover that also heals them.
All the most hated heroes make you look somewhere other than at the whole enemy team at once. It screams skill issue and “I can’t pay attention to multiple things at once” to me. I think the people banning Sombra are the same people who won’t play Smash Bros unless items are deactivated. They just can’t multitask.

It screams nothing other than people find her unfun in a video game where people want to have fun, what a concept I know.

My Brig forces Sombra swaps. I never minded facing her

Yes, but their fun means playing only the way they want and banning other people’s fun instead of just playing a game better suited to their own fun. They should be playing a single player game on easy mode instead of banning Sombra. Then everyone wins.

I don’t mind annoying characters existing, the problem is when they start showing up with regularity. That’s been the problem with Sombra recently - she’s in every game.

They just copied Spy from Teamfortress.
Once again, Blizzard has stated that bans are for characters that players find too strong OR annoying.
I don’t mind Sombra, but I do respect majority voting.

But she’s not the only character that makes you do that- yet somehow she’s the one banned the most.
Maybe there’s more to it?

I still remember her previous rework with permanent invis + virus, and how people quickly forget that version was much more cancerous is beyond me. Her current state is much more manageable but still permabanned, like shesh, talk about hatred for this one character

Pretty much the entire history of the world is based on this concept. See also: Politics

Ye pity my fun is killed by a unfun hero that was fine in her old kit, when I played a lot of her, now she’s just not possible to deal with forcing a gamestyle I hate.

I never minded Sombra, personally. I feel it’s a waste of a ban, as there are other DPS heroes that are actually anoying to deal with, such as Freja, Soj, Ashe, Widow (on certain maps), and that’s not even mentioning certain problematic tank designs.
However, the bright side of Sombra bans is that it influences people to ban Doom and Ball far more often in 6v6.

i don’t really mind sombra as the characters i play have quite good odds against her, but i understand why others don’t want to play against it, it’s not that strong but it’s very annoying
i don’t think people are necessarily afraid of difficulty, just certain playstyles are less fun than others

Why would you play smash Bros with items activated?
That’s nowhere near comparable because a random item can change the entire way of the fight. Wow you got a Poké ball that had a good Pokémon in it. I guess I lose a stock.
Not to mention the smash ball.
This was the worst part of your take

Isn’t it how tournaments are played in Smash, with no items?

That’s what I’m saying, does this man even smash?

I’m genuinely surprised that Sombra is now getting far more hate than Widow. With Widow, at least she announces her presence and location the moment she she shoots. When Sombra is around, she makes no noise while invisible, does not need to crouch to mask foot steps while invisible, decides when to attack with almost zero chance of being shot 1st, and easily escapes via translocate + invis. Counterplay options are limited – if your team mates are a bunch of zero-awareness players while you are being targeted, then you are usually forced to switch.
Sombra’s exile has been pretty consistent since hero bans went live. I do not think the OW2 player base will let her leave the ban box until she gets a less annoying rework. So Sombra will remain a QP / Arcade only hero until then.

Except that this is not true. People don’t universally agree on hating heroes.
Each hero in OW has its own group of haters, which makes sense in a hero shooter.
Sombra is hated across the board.
