There’s just no denying it. Ever since the Sombra nerf, there’s been a Widowmaker in almost every single match popping everyone’s heads. I don’t care if you hate, or love Sombra. You have to admit she kept the enemy widow under control. There is a spider problem, and it needs to be addressed. ATP, encountering an enemy widow is way worse than encountering an enemy Sombra. Every few matches it gets so bad that me or my team can’t even walk out of spawn.
Just make it so Virus does double damage to spiders.
The answer isn’t to have an equally cancerous hero ruining matches, it’s to nerf widow, heavy reverse falloff, a constant laser sight on her gun, or a large enough nerf to her charge time are all good options
I mean, I agree. But it wasn’t just widow that she kept under control. It was the Junkrat spamming in the back line, the Mercy resurrecting an impossible opponent.
People asked for Sombra nerfs, and many of us warned you that nerfing and already low performing DPS hero will be a stealth buff to widow.
Live with the consequences of these actions and learn to adapt.
At some point ya gonna have to learn to deal with strong DPS on the roster and get better.
Instead of crying to the devs because a hero is dunking on you.
Widow is strong but still map dependent hero that can be countered
First off, there’s no way to adapt to this. There’s nothing you can really do against a good widow, and Sombra is insanely easy to kill.
Second off, I’m not “crying to the devs”. I’m addressing a real problem within the game.
And finally, Widow is not entirely a map dependent hero. Even if she is, what are you supposed to do in that situation? The second you try and do something about her, you’re getting headshot. Trying to attack the enemy team? Headshot. Walking out of spawn? Headshot.
I agree Sombra was OP, but she’s near unplayable now. All you needed to do was adjust some of her cooldowns, damage, etcetera.
Sombra being needed to keep anything “in check” Is a bad player take, you’re basically announcing invis was your crutch and you still haven’t learned to walk without it yet
Widow takes the whole game hostage, it happened in the past and it happens again.
If they don’t fundamentally change window, she will be always problem
Widow games boring for everybody else
My guy, that is LITERALLY what she was designed for. I’ve tried practicing the new sombra. Sincerely, I have, but every strat I’ve tried was an instant death. 5 seconds in stealth is INSANE. You’re also assuming invis was my crutch, which, I’m not and wasn’t even a sombra main.
And I’ve seen people wreck with the new Sombra fine, she’s just not playing the game on easy mode anymore.
Her skill floor is above you now, time to actually learn how to use cover and position properly like every other dps instead of having it handed to you on a silver platter by perma stealth
Are you going to keep blaming this on me and telling me I lack skill, or are you going to address the issue, and actually discuss the problem with me? The initial post wasn’t even focused around Sombra, it was focus on Widow. I literally couldn’t care less if stealth isn’t permanent anymore. 5 seconds is still ridiculous. And, as I already pointed out, I am not even a Sombra main. You make a lot of assumptions, my guy.
As I said in another thread, the people who celebrated Sombra being completely destroyed had no idea the problem that was about to be unleashed on this game. Or rather magnified…
And now? It’s reality. And it’s only going to get worse, because the devs refuse to properly address Widowmaker. They refused to do it in OW1, and have shown that they refuse to do so in OW2.
My advice? If you don’t want to uninstall like so many us have, then learn Winston to make their lives miserable. And sad to say, but even Winston isn’t the end-all solution to dealing with WM.
Exactly! This games balancing is a mess.
And her design was absolute dumpster fire garbage
If you’re not going to take this seriously, go somewhere else.
Sure- but: No one was arguing otherwise.
Even the people arguing for sombra changes were right there acknowledging that this would be a problem as well.
However, lets not get into the rut of allowing a poorly designed hero to exist, because they hold back other poorly designed heroes. Arguing “we know we have a badly designed hero, but we need it to keep this OTHER badly designed hero in check” is a terrible game design philosophy.
Sombra was a problem. Widow is also a problem. The answer isnt to let one 1 exist to counter the other. The answer is to address them both.
And the thing i want to emphasize here: The problem isnt as simple as whether or not either of these heroes are/were over performing (Id readily argue sombra under performed. And i say this as as doom main. Sombra was weak overall). The problem stems from inherent / fundamental design issues with the heroes.
Widow isnt simply a “nerf the hero” thing- Its a “the hero is poorly designed” thing.
With Widow’s reduced life and Sombra’s unlimited backstage pass to the back line, it took very little effort to engage and kill a Widow clicking heads. Sombra was almost everyone’s anti-Widow crutch, and now that perma-invis is gone, players have to counter her with older methods like dive, flank, counter-sniping, and barriers.
You said this perfectly, thank you, sincerely. that’s exactly the problem with them. And actually a good few heros. I think it’s honestly just a problem that comes with having so many different heros with different abilities.
and it is super important to notice that if widow receives some sort of adjustment, there are still other two snipers ready to take her place
Well, we have beams to keep DVa in check.
We have Ana to keep half the tank roster in check (and frighten away tank players).
We have kiriko to keep Ana in check.
We have widow to keep fun in check.
Seems like they have a lot of bad design going on.
